This one hit close to home ... a co-worker of mine's brother was involved in this fatal accdent tonight.

I was at work tonight and all I could hear was someone screeming, crying ... trying to catch her breath. When I got up to see what was happening, the girl was getting escorted out ...  another manager told me that her brother had been involved in a fatal accident ... only now do I find out it was a motorcycle accident ... he was ONLY 25.

Seeing this made me realize how safe we need to be out there, cause I am sure none of us want our family to feel the kind of pain this girl was/is going though ...

Might sound like a broken record, but BE SAFE out there everyone ...

I am very sorry to hear about this and I am sure that your co-worker is broken up. I think the sad reality is that no matter how good we are, we are at the mercy of X number of cagers on the road with us at any point; any squidliness on our part only inflates the liklihood of a mishap....

A good message - be safe!

hate to hear things like this...the families are the ones who have to deal with the tragedies...RIP rider

'Racing' motorbikes in fatal crash

A 25-year-old man died after his motorcycle crashed into the back of a stopped car at Merivale Road and Enterprise Avenue Wednesday evening.

Witnesses said two men were driving in what they considered a dangerous fashion, racing down Enterprise shortly after 5 p.m., as they approached traffic lights.

"We just heard two bikes go ripping by and then there was just a boom," said Paul Howard who left work when he heard the crash. He said the driver smashed through the back window and landed inside the car.

"They (the cars) were stopped there, ready to turn left, and he pulled into the back of the black car," added Dan Alcorn. "He went right through the glass."

Mr. Alcorn was in a nearby parking lot when the crash occurred. Just before, he saw two motorcycles tearing down the street, racing, he said.

Yesterday, yellow tape cordoned off the area where two cars, one black, one silver, sat by traffic lights. The black car was covered with a blue tarp where witnesses said the man landed. Pieces of the motorcycle were scattered across the road and the remainder of the bike was flung beside a silver car.

Police said the man was pronounced dead at the scene. They would not confirm how the accident occurred.

"All we know at this point is a motorcycle rear-ended a car," said Sgt. Derek Menard, who said the investigation would take some time.

He described the lone driver of the car as "shaken up," but the driver sustained no serious injuries.

Witnesses said the female driver was in shock and was ushered into an ambulance.

Soon after, friends of the man who died pulled up in their motorcycles and cars crying, others consoling each another.

They described their friend as a careful driver who'd often warn people of the dangers of treating a motorcycle like a car.

Police closed Enterprise Avenue last night during the investigation.

Just curious, do you know if he was wearing a helmet and/or other gear?

RIP!

The hidden message here is that local roads are for running errands and taking it easy. Backroads and highways are for pushing it a bit and getting squidly.

RIP.

Yes he was ... but from what I saw on the news, he had no chance ... the bike was just a complete mess.

One of his riding buddies works with my dad.

Guess this guy had a GSXR 1000, stretched, with nitrous for racing. Guy he was "racing" with on this street ... (what the article states), had a turbo'd Busa.

If they were both going at it, on the busy streets ... unfortunately at this point they only have each other to blame sadely ...

....and race tracks. They are NOT that expensive when compared to the cost of life

Not a good scenario for any of us. It's bad enough when it's their fault...
