Not sure if someone can let me know via pictures if the panels are wired wrong. Backstory, we bought the house 4 years ago and after about 6 months the old breaker box was sparking inside so we decided to swap it out. Problem we had, all the new boxes had top feed for the wires. We decided to use a small box to feed the power in then feed the main breakers off of that box. We copied all of the wiring and transferred it over. Everything has been working fine. Fast forward to now, I had started installing a 50 amp generator plug and feeding that into the main box. I'm using 6 gauge wire as recommended in every video I've seen. The issue I am having is that I read conflicting information on where and how to wire the green and white wires. I'm told both can be on the same bus bar IF the panel is bonded. I'm also told that they can not be on the same bar and only the 1st service disconnect panel can be bonded so that would make my main panel the sub panel. I just don't want to blow anything up when I install the gen adapter and use the generator. I have ordered another lockout for the gen switch as the 1st one I got does not fit. I know the proper answer is to call a licensed electrician but after the storm and buying the parts for the generator and panel, the money just isn't there at the moment. Can you tell by looking at the pictures what I would need to switch?

Not sure what the building codes are in your state but, here in Florida, we bought the kit that comes with the block off plate and relocated the breaker that was closest to the main. That freed up that spot to allow for a the 50amp generator breaker to be installed and then installed the plate that prevents the generator breaker from being turned on while the main is on. It was just a wire to each contact on the breaker and the ground to the ground bar and done. I don’t think I have pictures of the wiring itself. Ignore the writing on the breaker, that’s just a used breaker I repurposed.

I have the lockout in order. Should be here next week. Looking into some electric forums, if using this referenced picture, while looking at my 1st panel, it is not bonded. I may have to reroute and add a ground bar to the breaker panel.
