We had a "Special Forces" (now called "Ranger) detachment; what we called the PR's is unprintable in this forum While they were twirling rifles, we were in the field..
We used to do FTXs with the "Rangers". They couldn't keep up on a 20-miler to save their hide.
I was AFROTC and the only AF cadet in the PR. Was a strange thing apparently. I gotta say though, having the purple cord on my shoulder in my dress blues really made me stand out. Much better than the boring Arnold Air Society cord.
Yes, I was drill team and color guard; yes I wore the chrome dome; yes I twirled my rifle with the greatest of ease; and yes, I'm proud of it. No others eh? oh well.
One FTX we caught the PR's holed up in a barn sleeping out of the rain, slipped up on them and at dawn woke them up with about 4 M60's on full auto with blank bandolears hooked together..besides making the barrels glow, we scared their pants off
