Does anyone know, are there any sanctioned (legal) top speed events held on the west coast (WA,OR,CA,NV,AZ) on pavement like Maxton is back east? I'm kind of considering going to El Mirage/Muroc but I dont like the idea of limited traction and dirt (by the cubic yard) entering my engine. I know they had been running 660' drag racing at the former Norton AFB (I think it's San Bernadino Int'l Airport now) here in CA which would have been a very good (10,000' runway) location. It, as well as the also defunct March AFB (13,000' runway) I think are both out of the picture now...but it was a good thought.
