Had my lower cowling painted. Bought a factory sticker

Now is time to install Factory sticker. Any pointers on how to do it right?
This is an expensive sticker{for me} and I dont want to mess it up.
Looks to me like you only have one shot to get it right.
How do you keep it straight and also is their a trick to keeping air bubbles out?
Thanks

Maybe someone will chime in that has actually done this before with a busa ... but in my old motocross days I always had to put new number plate backgrounds on whenever I got a new bike (every other year).

I'd peel the sticker backing off, soak the whole sticker in soapy water (dishwashing detergent), and then place it.  Then using a little plastic thingy I got at Autozone I'd push all the airbubbles out from under the sticker.  The soap will allow the whole sticker to move so that you can get it just where you want it.

It takes several days to dry, but once it does it's as sticky as if you hadn't used the soapy water.  It was a tedious process but if you've got the patience it works great.

Hope that helps somewhat.

Take a spray bottle you can get at walmart .Mix water and 1 drop of dawn detergent mix up . Spray back of sticker and panel . Apply sticker and squeegee . Leave in the sun will be dry in about 15 minutes . Easiest thing to do is measure it out and dry stick with some scotch tape .Mark outsides on panel with grease pencil . Patience my friend take your time and it will be right ...

Thank you, Thank you very much {ELVIS voice}
Never would have thought of the water technic.seems like that would take away the stick-um But it makes a lot of since being able to move it, getting it just right and using the squeegee to force out air bubbles and water
Always wondered how the factory gets them perfect every time
I thank you again I'll let you know how it turns out

I do this all the time with my Tankslapper kit. But I use a mix of 70/30 water /Alcohol with a few drops of dish soap. Works great!

Just be sure not to use too much soap... I just had to install my stickers and they come a little larger so the edges are going to run over.

One more question.
This is a two part sticker backing and front
When you peel the back off and use the water to get it just right, Do you wait till it dries before pealing the protective clear sheet that covers the sticker? seems like the sticker would lift if you tried when wet.

3 part sticker? Peel the back then apply the solution, get it in the right position and leave the whole thing to dry. Try peeling the "top" piece when it's dry and stuck where you want it.

or................bring it over this weekend and we'll put it on

+1, apply stickers all the time on glass.

Only suggestion, spray surface, spray adhesive side, AND spray other side- prevents pulling and stretching of sticker when using squeegee!
