Anybody ever heard of 'Palisades Collection, LLC'?

In a routine credit check, which I do periodically, a "potentially negative" item appeared on my report. Palisades Collection, LLC, claims that I owe, and have owed, $151 since June of '06, on an unpaid AT&T (now Cingular) Wireless account. I'm confused as I've never had an AT&T or Cingular phone. A Google search of the collections agency shows that I'm in for a fight. Anybody know of them?

Challenge it through the credit reporting agency that shows the listing. Do not try to contact the collections co. directly. They will have to provide proof that it is a legitimate debt, or off it comes.

Thanks, BusaWhipped. I found several blog sites where people have disputed the claims and Palidades sticks to their guns, so the credit reporting agencies don't remove them. It's quite a mess. I disputed the item, haven't recieved an answer yet, but from what I've read, this might be a real PIA.

they have to prove it, if they can not it has to come off.
if you have too consult an attonery, sometimes a letter from them will do the trick.

You guys are awesome. That's why I posted this here. I've sent Palisades a certified "verification of debt" letter, which gives them 30 days to provide documented proof. From what I've read, I should be ready to a long fight.
