anyone done the TRE on an otherwise STOCK busa?

There is another modification that one of the other sportbike-oriented magazines has praised as the greatest thing since sliced bread. It is a timing-retard eliminator (TRE) available for the Hayabusa. This is a great mod for guys who race at Bonneville, have several of miles of speed limit free roads in their area (I wish!) or like to practice wheelies. If you like to drag race or do roll-on's , this product will SLOW YOU DOWN! We have tested it time and time again on different bikes at the drag strip with the same results- around one tenth and 1 ½- 2 mph slower. The track measures performance and does not lie when used properly. The bike does have more “seat of the pantsâ€￾ grunt for about the first 5 feet in 1st gear (or up to 4500 rpm) then is confused into thinking that it is in 5th gear all of the time, even though it is in 1st, 2nd, etc. I’ll bet that big-buck Suzuki R&D team didn’t place all of those different load maps in the ECM for no reason!

Just something I read so I cut and pasted for ya..

How about a PCIIIUSB on an 02 With Just Cans?

Maybe a Switchable TRE???

I have a TRE on a stock 04 busa and it does make some difference, I can get the front up a little easier at a lower rpm.

Why a TRE? "What the hell difference does it make if you pick up a few hp with your mods anyway? You're still riding the world's fastest mass produced motorcycle as it is." Seems like I read that before someplace...........

But FYI - I noticed no big difference with my TRE. Headers, yes. Fuel mapping - yes. Change the front sprocket to a tooth less - a cheaper mod and you''ll feel more pull.

LOL! Nice memory.

I have no plans on purchasing one, I was simply curious.

I like the fact that I can hammer my stock busa in 1st gear and, if I've got a full tank of gas and I lean forward on the pegs, I get no wheelie.

If a TRE (or gear changes for that matter) made the bike more wheelie prone in 1st, that would run counter to my objective: WFO w/o wheelies in 1st gear.

Nothing beats that for the "shot out of a cannon" feeling, know what I'm saying?

I installed Ivan's Smart TRE a few weeks after I bought the bike, a new 04 model. Before the TRE I noticed a slight sluggishness in the low gear low rpm range because of Suzuki's soft mapping. But after the TRE I got a NOTICEABLE increase in acceleration, to the point where I have to be careful, especially turning onto roads from a dead stop. But my bike really kicks ass in the acceleration department. Also, the 6th gear "governor" is gone, so when asked how fast the busa can go, instead of saying "186 mph", I can say "close to 200 mph". It dampens the ladies, not that I'm in the market for a damp one, OK Wifey!

READ THE PAGES AND PAGES OF INFO O THE SITE FOR "TRE" BOTTOM LINE IS IF YOU ARE NOT RACING TOP END YOU DO NOT NEED IT PERIOD. once you go over 186mph (true) several times and want more buy it. Don't buy it becuase it eliminates the speed restriction. Fact is maye 10% of riders will ever use it.

What ninja said,

I have yet to actually get mine above 170 There is just no pace here to do with that does not have traffic, and I won't do that with traffic around. With the road that I hit 170, i had to let off due to end of road coming up really quick, didn't want to be a statistic. It does give more power in lower gears, but also causes the front wheel to come up easier.
