I am looking to buy either a SMH-5 or SMH-10 and wasn't sure if anyone knows how the quality of the speakers are on the 5 compared to the 10.

The 5 will suit my needs perfectly as long as the sound quality doesn't suffer.

I have used a SMH-10 before and liked the sound quality but got alot of wind noise from the unit's size itself and never liked the pins on the unit itself.

Thanks

I have the 10 and have not tried the 5, but I am extremely happy with mine for over a year. No problems with the pins. I run mine with the optional base and use earbuds. The firmware updates just keep improving as well. I also have a 3BR Powersports USB port so I never have to worry.

I went ahead and ordered the 5, It should be here this week. Worse case if the speakers suck they do sell a large speaker kit for it. we shall see..

Thanks for the info guys..

for these comm sets are there certain helmets they are for or what? or just pull the padding and stuff them in.

The SMH5 came in today and I am very impressed with the sound quality. Even at 75 mph you have volume to spare. Well worth the money..

Did you get a pair of them with mic's and headsets?
What did you hook up to it - MP3, phone, GPS, Radar.....?

Just bought one for now, My wife doesn't ride with me.
Yes it comes with 2 speakers and a mic. And it's paired to my phone, A Motorola Bionic. I use it for GPS,Music,phone,ect..

IF you want to be able to pair to two different bluetooth devices (for example your phone and a seperate radar detector) then you'll have to get the SMH10. The SMH5 only pairs to one bluetooth device at a time. But since my phone does it all and I do not use my radar on the bike that was fine with me.
