I am taking up fishing again now that I live in Houston and am surrounded by water. Im right handed but when it comes to baitcaster reels I fish left handed. Finding a store that stocks more than one left hand reel is a huge challenge. I looked on Fleabay and my local craigslist but want to know if anyone knows of any fishing forums or good websites for salt water gear. Let me know…

im the same way with my baitcaster. I reel with my left and finding a left handed reel is not always easy if u want a quality reel. I just sold my Calcuta TE to my buddy and it was a sweet piece that I used for catching striped bass in the ocean and Connecticut river. ive bought quite a few things from here. cabellas is near me and so is a Bass Pro shops but this website has good deals.

Shimano Fishing reels, fishing tackle, Saltwater fishing equipment by Penn Reels, Avet, Alutecnos, Accurate, Zeebaas, Daiwa, Newell, Van Staal, Okuma, Quantum, and more from Alltackle.com

btw, I have a G-Loomis GLX 6'0 Medium Bass rod for sale if u know someone who might want it. its brand new. still has plastic on it. new its $375.

I'm betting that as usual ebay would have best and most? No?
What type of reel are we looking for?
HD offshore bait caster? 3.0, 4.0 Penns? I've got a couple Penn Rods and Reels in my shed.
Set em up a few yrs ago and never used them. Reels are covered in reel cases, rods are new. Let me snap a pic or two in the morning for you.

Thats a sweat reel. Im trying to find something like that for around $150. I dont want to drop too much into it my gear at first. Im not sure how much time I will have to get away and go fishing. The wife and kids want to go so Im buying stuff for everybody. I dont even have a tackle box anymore...I need good entry level stuff, or used higher quality stuff, that I can upgrade later when I have more cash and time to go fishing. I can get the wife and kids very basic stuff...they wont know the difference or even care...they just want to have a pole in the water.

Ever use one of these before???

Abu Garcia Ambassadeur 6601C4 Baitcast Reel 6601 C4 Baitcaster Lefthanded | eBay

I saw one in a store today (it was right handed though) and it seemed like a decent reel.

I know my old boss does a lot of bass fishing, tourneys and all. He bought one he has been seeing on tv (not very descriptive but its a white one about 100-150 with red anodized trim). He loves it. Super small line eyes and supposed to be better for casting. Very light and lifetime warranty.

ive used two different abu garcia reels in the past and all I can say is u get what u pay for.

I hav not used that specific reel tho so I cant comment on it. they sell a lot of reels around the world but my experience with them over Diawa's newer lines and Shimano or Lews imo they just never seemed to hold up very long and wasnt as fluid.

but finding a deep sea reel in a lefty is a challenge. im sure it will work just fine. its all a matter of personal taste. look for it on Amazon. they have a great return policy or Cabellas.
