Anyone here adjust their valves themselves?

Is their anything particularly hard about doing the valves besides finding the correct shims to use if any need to be replaced?

I am @ 8500 miles and want to check them @ 10K, one guy was telling me he had a few loose ones @ 10K.

It was his opinion that Suzukis tend to go out of adjustment way before Yamahas do. Not sure if this holds any water but just to be safe id like to get in their and check them myself.
Hopefully I will get lucky and all will be in spec.

Any tips or tricks would be appreciated.

thanks

Busa is nicely mechanically laid out. No difficulties in removing the valve cover. Having access to measure the clearances. Easy to see alignmet marks.
The Valve job proceedure in the Service manual is straight forward easy to follow.
The shims etched size markings of 16 shims only one had to be measured using a micrometer.
Found the small/medium length size feeler gauges perfect fit.
Speacial tool to remove an inspection hole. Through which align the crankshaft to TDC. I used the alignment marks on the Camshaft gears, clearly visible without having to use special tools.
Just for consensus building. My valve clearances at 12k miles. All sixteen clerances were in spec range on loose side. Room for more settling as clerance closes tighter with wear.
