I've been using and setting up firesticks for a while, got a bunch of them out there already with various "builds". You really don't need a particular build, once you determine what you want on it, you just install the zip files and get into the addons that you want. Obviously, Exodus is a big one, as is Uk Turks, but there is so much stuff out there, using another person's build is really just downloading what they like. Even if you decide to go with a set build - this is a good way to jump in - you can always go into addons and add whatever you want. Cable sucks compared to Kodi.

I have been a kodi guy for few years now. Frank hit the nail on the head. I install tons of addons then go through them all and delete what i dont like.

I'm brand new to Kodi. Just got the new KDLinks A400. But I think I jay be going down to a Amazon Firesticks. Does a lot. Lot to learn. But Man Oh Man is there a lot of content that it brings to you now.

Tons of Add Ons to learn about.

I built a touchscreen XBMC with raspberry Pi with my son a few years ago for him to stream audio in his room, I have been using it for some time too, firesticks are handy but to do all I want to do and get the performance I dabble with other solutions too.

Here is a system I put together this weekend from an old laptop with a cracked screen. I had another bigger laptop screen laying around that I used with this build instead. I loaded it with a free Android OS and instead of using a keyboard and mouse have a wireless touchpad and keyboard that I can use from the couch in the living room. Having a wired GB connection makes a big difference.

Since I have the laser laying around I cut out what I wanted for the front and did a little engraving on it too.

One thing to remember is that certain app aren't "Officially" supported by Kodi. Those are the ones, well are known for pirated stuff. If you roam the "Official forums" they don't condone such apps. For legal purposes, morals, who knows.... It's not hard to find those apps though.

I bought a couple boxes (Q-box) off amazon for $25 and it came with 16.0 kodi(with all the goodies) and android 6.0. Quad core with 1gig memory and 8 gig storage. Wi-Fi. With an Micro SD slot for additional storage. USB for keyboard or you can watch/add stuff from a USB drive. For $10 more you can get one of those little keyboards like pictured above. Otherwise it only comes with a remote. They are tiny, like about 1/2 thick and 3"x3". Hook it up and enjoy many apps including Exodus and more. For the price it's hassle free.

Kodi itself is easy to install. After that it's installing a 3rd party app installer and off you go... Find the apps and load them up.
