ANYTHING POLITICAL GETS MOVED OR DELETED

Hey guys. When this board first came to be OVER 25 YEARS AGO there was a strict no political post policy. Over the years Captain created a political form and asked that we used it for that purpose because he didn't want it in the main forums. Here lately this has become a major problem. Threads are being hijacked at a ridiculous rate and are getting out of control. Today I deleted three pages of back and forth political and other banter on a thread that was started about the wildfires in CA. That is completely uncalled for.
This is suppose to be a place where people can come and interact with others that have the same things in common. The love for the mighty Busa. People come here to talk about their lives, jobs, love of riding, asking how to fix their bike, ask about mods, exc... But so many threads are getting lost to political opinions and name calling that you have search to find out what the original post was even about. Over the years a lot of friends have been made, group rides and get togethers been arranged. When I was living in GA I made great friends on this site and traveled to CA mutiply times with my bike to attend the GP races at Laguna Seca and ride the awesome CA roads. We had a blast every time. Guys would come from around the country and meet at Deals Gap to ride and hang out, countless track days have also been done.

Let's face it. Everyone is allowed to have their own opinions and we don't have to agree with them. I am just asking that anything political be kept in the politics forum and that threads started remain on subject. Hijacked threads will continue to be cleaned up and any political threads will be moved.
Thank you for understanding

I think it's a great thought.

But we have some users that go to political threads, titled political threads, and openly state that they want to get the thread removed. And do whatever they can do, to do it.

Because they have learned, nothing will happen to them.

So what is the proposal there?

We'll see how things go and figure that out. Maybe we can start putting people in timeout. LOL

I for one, would love to see posts remain on topic and not descend into political, name calling, pages and pages of back and forth which has nothing to do with the original post.
Trying to remember what the original post was about can sometimes mean going back through pages and pages to just find a post that's on topic.

And whilst I respect that everyone has an opinion and is able to voice their opinion, coming from the southern hemisphere, I'd love to return to just the 'busa forum I joined.

Thank you @jwcfbd for your post.

I’m on another bike forum and the same thing happens there too.
And I think the political climate has become very heated in recent years so it’s easy to provoke others.
That’s why we have moderators
I've found we've either lost a lot of good people or others stop posting due to all this political rhetoric......as it always descends into name calling and nastiness at one point.....

I applaud the efforts of our administrators in their efforts to save this forum.......I like it here.......
