Are slip-ons/aftermarket air filter/TRE worth it?

I was wondering if adding some slip-ons, an aftermarket air filter and a TRE would give me any worthwhile seat of the pants power diff? I kinda like the quieter exhaust (too many loud bikes over the years I think..lol), and don't want to screw up my throttle response or kill my mileage. But I wouldn't mind a few comprimises for a noticeable power increase. Also do you lose some low-end torque when you go to a 4 into 1 on the Busa's? I'm a huge off the line torque kinda guy

Not worth it for the power gain. Looks and sond and a min. (2-3hp) gain for te cans and filter. The TRE will get you NO gains it just takes off tope end restrictions.
 
As much as I respect NE I gained about 11 rear wheel HP by adding my 4-1 and filter with remap (155.9 stock to 166.7). THe torque curve is almost identical to stock until 3500 rpm then about 3 fp more through the rpm range (96.6 stock to 99.5).
In addition you will save around 20 pounds of weight. That in itself is worth the money.

If you're thinking about spending the money on all that, you might as well get a full system which is where you get the hp gain your looking for. Slip-ons are for noise and looks, mostly.

Sounds like he is unsure what direction to go.
Had no idea that slips made so little diff.

If you have the money (and are a bit crazy) a nice turbo will sure impress the ladies and you can loose the cans.
 
Guys thanks a ton for the info, as mentioned I'm not sure which way to go with these mods.....but it sounds like the slip-ons are kinda a waste of money for any real power diff. And Johnny also said he didn't really lose any torque with a full system, so why spend on no gain slip-ons when I can have a full system with some nice gains for not much more?

So Johnny what brand system you running?....I'd love to get a nice system that didn't wake the dead but still gave some good power gains....:) and yes....I had an old school turbo bike a few years back that I boosted up...what a kick in the pants!

I was gonna turbo my gsxr 11, but now that I have the Busa I guess that would be the next logical choice...although a turbo on this thing seems almost suicidal

I have slip ons but only because I got tipped over in a parking lot, otherwise I would be all stock.

Most Yoshimura's and the BDE hindle Gen III pipe give good hp gains and don't wake the dead.
 
No to slip ons...No to filter...No to TRE...No = no gain...Get a full system...Muzzy makes a good system for about half the price of the other big names...
