I've now had my Busa a little over three weeks

.  Its incredible how many people have approached me asking questions about the bike - I guess they are just a real eye catcher

But what I find unbelievable is the occassional person that has actually asked me if they could take it for a short ride

.  My buddies know better to ask, no different than I not asking to ride their new bike.  Of course, there are those that I'm close to that I offer it to (obviously experienced riders) so they can see what the Busa is all about, and because I trust them with my life, as they do theirs to me.

But what about the mere acquaintance?  As an example, today while having a coffee at Starbucks, this fellow that I see from time to time stopped to look at it and to ask me a few questions.  He than proceeded to ask me if he could take it for a short ride

.  And I mean he was serious - and this wasn't the first time it happened.  I told him there are two things that I absolutely do not let anyone ride - my bikes and my wife

Are some people that stupid?  Sometimes I just have to scratch my head

.  Anyone else get this from time to time?

Yes. My brother is the only person I allow to ride my bike with confidence though. For all others, I request a $2,000 deposit. When they say they don't have that kind of money (which they all say), I tell them "that's exactly what you'll say to me if you drop it".

Then they understand I'm not being a prick.

I let my neighbor ride it thats it anymore... My brother in law used to ask but I told him that since he wasn't family he would have to pay if he even scratched it...

+1 No one rides mine period, and if I choose to let them then, they will have to fork over big dollars.

(boazalmighty @ Aug. 01 2007,23:10) i ask for a bigger deposit
+1 I would ask for ummm around 10K that way if the did mess it up well then I could put a nice down payment on the new on and fix the damage on the old one.

There are only a few very good friends that I know are good riders with experience that I would even consider letting them ride my bikes. With an agreement ofcourse. If anything happens, you give me $xxxx and you get to keep the bike. This dollar figure is ofcourse based on undamaged value.

This is interesting indeed...most people I encounter seem to be afraid to try to ride a Busa.

I have offered to let a couple of friends take mine for a spin and they have declined. These are expreienced riders.

I've only let 3 people ride my Busa. One is another Busa rider on this board, my riding buddy after we had ridden together for more than 10,000 miles, and a friend who has years of bike racing experience on the track.

I only let one person ride mine. He has years of experience and I trust him. Other then that, no way. I have been asked by a few other riders of smaller bikes but I tell them I have seen they way they ride their bikes, no way will I let them ride mine.

I only offer to known experienced riders and they always deline and kind of back away - which I think is funny because it's a GREAT handling bike and not a monster at all.

My son is the only other person to ride mine. If someone asks I tell them to sign a contract stating if they even so much as scuff the hump getting on or off they buy it! So far they have all refused.

I let 2 brother-n-laws ride it,but thats it.people that know me know better than to ask.cause that biotch is mine period.

Only people to ride mine are GJoker, and when I first got it - our neighbor that has a Harley (he just rode it around the block) and a not-so-experienced friend that rode it around the block... Oh crap, and Corroded Alien... but he seemed to know what he was doing.

I don't let anyone near it anymore. I've become too attached.

Only my husband and my neighbor - he's a rider without a ride at the moment (wife won't let him...) and he only takes it aroung the 'hood. It's my way of paying him back for some of the favors he does for us like dog-sitting, etc. Now he wants more favors for more rides... Imagine that!

I have to tell you that no one has ever asked if they could ride any of my bikes...ever in over 40 yrs of riding.  Maybe they just knew better.
