Backfiring

I have about 7700 miles on "My Baby" now and the other day I noticed it may be back firing. Not as in the loud banging, but several low rumbles inside the pipes. I have had riders behind me that don't hear a thing, but I can feel and hear it. It usually happens when I am deaccellerating hard into a turn or coming to a stop. I have dropped two gears, blip the throttle and releasing the clutch, the motor and gear catches the bike starts to slow down and then there are several low rumbles.
I realize that there could be some residual fuel getting in the pipes because of the deaccelleration, but I guess I am asking if this is normal. I just had it in for the 7500 mile check up and they said everything was normal, but then I read the other thread and scared myself.

Am I just freaking out on nothing?

Oh yeah, I live at 5300 feet above sealevel and do most of my riding between 8000 and 10000 feet depending on which mountain I am riding in.

thanks.

Sounds like the packing in the cans may be burning out. You would get the same thing going to a full system or open flowing slip-ons. At least I had that with my full system on the busa and the slip-on on the 10. Haven't noticed it on the 6 with the slip-on...

Should just be a bit of unburned gas mixing with the oxygen from the PAIR and igniting/burning in the exhaust...

So this is nothing to really worry about?
I was thinking about getting the vipers as well, do ya think this will make it worse?

Okay, let me see if I have this right.... you cap the the box side and the hose? or just the box side?

Did you ever punch holes in your stock cans MrGxr?

Mine backfires every blue moon...nothing too big or annoying, but a little bit of a startle to wake me up...I assume it's from the mods Mike did to the cans...

No, haven't punched the holes yet. I have riding almost everyday I am off from work and haven't had the time to take the cans off and work on them.

If your stock cans are burned in good I doubt a new set of slip-ons would be any worse as long as what you're getting is what I mentioned.

I honestly think that's what it is, too. You can probably stop it by blocking off the PAIR line from the airbox with a marble or bolt. If that stops it, you know that's what it was.

I'm talking about the line from the bottom of the airbox on the right (throttle) side... This one... (Yellow arrows added by me to point out hose in original thread it was used in)

The BDE PAIR kit comes with this cap for it but dropping a marble or bolt in it from inside the airbox will do the same thing.
