I'm not new to turbos nor fast motorcycles, but I am new to turbo motorcycles. With that being said, I'm in the mists of buying a 2000 busa with a basic turbo kit on it. It has a turbonextics turbo with many handmade components (plenum and manifold etc).
My first intention is to make sure the bike is running properly. If anything like turbo cars, I guess I'll put it on a dyno and log a few pulls. My questions is: What will I need as far as computer systems/ sensors go to make sure everything is fine and to tune it properly? Some of the old turbo car's i've worked with are very hard to tune without a standalone computer system. Is a power commander all i need for XXX hp?
My next question is: what hp should I expect on 93oct pump gas? It has stock internatls with basic supporting mods (fuel pump, injectors etc). I want a conservative tune.
Lastly, I understand the concept on why a turbo busa will smoke when cold, (turbo return line/ turbo being too low etc). But how realistic is this? Is the seller simply giving me a line and the motor is actually hurt? Will this become a problem?
The bike is supposedly tight, sound and tested, but the last thing I want is to have to rebuild the motor when it could have been avoided.
Lastly, what's the best forum for hayabusa/turbo hayabusa owners?
Thanks!
