I beat two traffic tickets this week and I feel very fortunate! I had one yesterday in a neighboring county, speeding doing 85 in a 70, caught with laser. The attorney I had beat that one with ease. I actually got the ticket back in July and just got into court on Monday.
The second ticket was a Negligent Driving, which is quite serious in this state with a fine of $528. I was ticketed for lifting the front wheel about knee high and carrying it for about a hundred feet getting onto the freeway. The entire wheelie was on the entry ramp. I picked it up at about 25 mph and sat it down at 50 mph then drifted out into the slow lane. Never exceeded the speed limit but the state patrolman was not impressed. From his attitude you would have thought he had just caught "Jack the Ripper". My attorney got that one dismissed as well. He actually had seven tickets in court today and won all seven. This guy really knows his stuff. I was totally impressed.
One thing I learned today is the cops are not always honest when they write up their report. They take the facts and exagerate them to suit their needs. My attorney told me the best thing to do when you are stopped is not to say a word. You are only required to give your name and address which is on your license. Never, never, never get into a conversation with them! Anything you say can and will be used against you in court and what you do say may not be exactly what the officer writes in his report? This attorney told me he could get me out of just about any ticket if I kept my lip buttoned and didn't say a word! If you are ask a direct question such as, "How fast were you going"? Just answer with "No Coment". Just thought you guys might be interested to know that traffic cops do not always win!
Hope everyone had a great Christmas!
