Best Boost Gauge Options?

Hi all,

My bike has an Autometer air filled gauge and it's worthless. The needle vibrates so badly there is easily a 2-3psi "grey" area as far as knowing what kind of psi is going on.

What are your favorite boost gauges and why? Pic's would be awesome!

Thanks
Sean

I was looking for Boost gauges myself for future references and im down to three gauges
AEM
ProSport
Innovate

My friend on a 350Z turbo has the AEM (analog+digital) also i have seen the AEM Iboost but i didnt research it yet.

Have a look @ them and see.

The Marshall I listed above is not illuminated so... never mind.

What a PITA this is. I'm fine with digital but I think it might be hard to see in the sunlight.

The AEM you can get as a basic boost controller too.

Does anyone know if the electronic (but analog needles) don't jump around because they are using a sensor for signal?

It seems either digital, electronic analog, or liquid filled are the only options and it's hard to find an illuminated liquid filled gauge in 2-1/6 or smaller.

Ideas?

I hear ya on sizes. I ended up with 2 2-5/8" gauges and need 1 more and the one I have picked out is 2-1/16.

No turbo, but for oil, fuel, afr.

Ya i had the same problem..i dont think u will find a liquid gauge that will glow..i never did..i went from a liquid gauges to a autometer..i wanted something easy to see during the day and thats hard with a digital gauges..especially trying to keep up with the numbers...
The other problem is the size and most gauges go up to high in readings for what i wanted..0-15 psi was what i wanted, because if it goes to 30 on the gauge there really hard to read the correct psi..plus ill never go past 15 psi..heres a pic of the one i ended up with..its a autometer..
Its not as steady as a liquid filled..bounces around a little when going off boost but its mechanical..

I've broke a bunch of autometers and they really sucked on a bike. It would shake really fast between 5 psi. I bought a digital AEM and its been great.

However the best boost guage is a racepak or a Aim MXL lol. Thats what I'm doing when I go standalone.

Well how would you rate the AEM digitals in direct sunlight?

I've thought of getting one of their Tru-Boost controllers and sticking it up where the shift light is in Freechance's photo above (where my boost gauge currently is). It's just a basic controller but would probably work for my needs if I could see the display in the daytime.

At this point I'm considering a very different option... I have an extra gauge panel and I'm thinking of seeing if I can hack it up and install an 80mm tach and 80mm boost in there where the speedo currently is, then adapting a small LCD speedo up top.

Honestly, I have the 220mph gauges and the increments are so small that it's pretty worthless for knowing if I'm going 55 or 62 unless I spend more time looking at it on the road than I should.

If I could make that work, I'd use my iPhone or a cheap GPS for speed in the short term.

...just to add...

I don't know if the ECU has been hacked far enough on these bikes, but maybe if I do the 80mm thing, it might be possible to have the upper LCD read the speed instead of the clock?

I have a CNC mill, so maybe I could go OCD and mill up a whole new gauge panel with some relocations?

Hmmmmm...

Well if u get a to big of a gauge make sure u have enough clearance because the bigger around the gauge is the longer the gauge is..unless u can get it back far enough to clear the clutch/brake lever when u turn??
