I have had this bike since january. And no i dont plan on drag racing cars at red lights. But i was wondering whats the best way to launch it.Some have said get it upto 3-4k RPM and then let out the clutch ASAP.Thing is i dont want the thing looping on me.Any advice.I know the guys with the extended swingarms dont have to worry too much about looping but i do.Best way to do it?

Don't mis-understand letting the clutch out asap as just letting go of it (aka Dumping) at 4k rpm. Go start your bike up and put it in first gear, then without giving it any throttle just take off by letting the clutch out a little. It is the same concept when launching, but you have the throttle at 3-4k rpm, so therefore you can let the clutch out a lot fast without killing the motor. I will probably spin the tire easier than lifting the front end. Your bike is all stock I assume? Get good at it this way, then go down one tooth on the front sprocket and get good at it that way.

So basically you get the bike at around 4k rpm and then "Dump" the clutch? So if i keep my weight (208lbs total) as much on the tank as possible it would control the wheelie?

DO NOT DUMP THE CLUTCH! Let it out as quick as you can with out doing a wheelie. You should have the clutch all the way out and the throttle wide open by the 60' mark.

OK, umm....wait a second here...before you go out to your garage and try Dumping the clutch at 4K ...make sure your insurance is paid up on the bike.

I'm no drag racing expert, but start off slow and work your way up. Progress at your own pace, and at your own comfort level. A 4K dump of the clutch, depending on mods, could end your fun real quick.

It's hard on the clutch, but I launch around 5k and feather the clutch.
There's a fine line before she'll stand up on you. Tire temp & pavement temp are key factors when launching.
If done right the front tire shouldn't be more the 6inches off the ground & shouldn't touch the ground until mid way through 3rd gear

You should come up to Moroso tonight. You could probably get some pointers from some of the guys. Pm me if your interested. Gates open at 6:00.

I'm curious too. I'm not a drag-racer but I'm interested in being able to launch better. I've always used the technique of slowly engaging the clutch while at the same time giving it more gas (starting at 4k). But I've noticed that my Hayabusa has a rather abrupt engagement point. It goes from feathering to full contact in a short amount of time. So lately when I've tried to launch harder I end up keeping the clutch short of engagement (constant) and progressively giving it gas. I fully engage the clutch somewhere north of 40mph. This seems awfully brutal on the clutch.

So more specifics please on the clutch, throttle relationship.

Do the clutch mod if you plan on launching at high rpm's! Search for it, I don't feel like explaining it right now.

There is a video of "him" some where around here of what happens when you "dump" the clutch, you have to feather it out of the hole, easing more clutch out at the same time feeding it more throttle at the same time.Practice at lower RPMs,but if you want to be competitive,4 grand wont cut it,above 6 is more like it to get a good 60 ft.You have to keep the rpms up.Now......all that said,if you have a wheelie bar on,then you can just dump the clutch, just make sure you have it set up right, good strong chain, and have a clutch/slave support cover in case you do break a chain under power.
