I keep thinking about getting an or the T-Maxx... Big ole gas powered monster trucks...
vroom vroom...
I own the T and would say go for it Rev. Your good either way!! Monster Trucks are great!
Just my opinion, while the Associated does rock the T-Maxx is no small feature! 1.3 hp pushing around just over eight pounds can be very fun! Oh and speeds up to about 43 mph. Sick
And one other major factor is the handling! AE is a 1/8 as opposed to a T as a 1/10 scale. But that AE is built a whole lot tougher! PERIOD!
I am sure you have done some research, but there is one more opinion for you to help in your decision making!

And the Rustler. Oh man it makes the MT look and feel boring. That Nitro Rustler in the first post runs just over 50 mph.(Its slightly modded) IT SCREAMS !! (Gets tons o' attention and snaps any and all ankles that happen to be in the way - Aluminum, BUILT TOUGH!)
*EITHER WAY GET SOMETHING! THEY HELP KEEP THE KID IN YA*
Disclaimer from dlrumbl: Any intro into Nitro can be hazardous. Nitro is a very, very costly hobby but once "in" the hobby then the price can be nominal. Wrecks will happen and you will destroy your brand new truck, so you BETTER like working on it! And lastly you must be the "CRO-MAGNON" type. You have to tinker continually, and clean, and fix, and get dirty and repeat for the sport to be fun! But once hooked, then you will love the fresh smell of NITRO in the morning!
Well this tank is waiting for me now....... gotta go
