Yesterday I was leading our group ride out of Austin on Park RD 4 in Marble Falls.I come around a corner & standing there looking at me in my lane is a big azz EMU.I have come up on many things in the road, but never an Emu. Sorry no pics.

Insane! Up here in the Northeast, the only thing I've ever seen in the road has already been FLATTENED by a prior traveler..

Did it just stand there and look at you? Or did it take off?

It stood there & looked at us. Group of 10 riders just staring back. He finally moved off the road. On the way back 2 guys were trying to lasso him.

Isn't that a big a$$ bird ? WTF ? I would have probably wrecked, while staring at it !!
yes, they are...i raised some along with geese, ducks, and peacocks when i was a teenager...they are a lot of fun especially when they are young...they definitely don't like dogs though and will try to stomp them to death

there is an Emu farmer outside of Scottsdale AZ... saw my first one when he brought a trailer in for a bearing fix on an axle...

standing there with my hand on the rail looking down at the toasted bearing cap and "Wham" something nailed my hand, scared me so bad I yelled about fell down... then I saw this what was described above pretty well "Giant Roadrunner" beep beep

guys at the shop still laughing at me....

can hardly imagine what seeing one in your way would be like on the road heheheheh now I can giggle

I've had a flock or two of sheep cross my path.
The most interesting thing though had to be a group of three cows relaxing in the shade of a curved unlit tunnel. Doh, that was an eye opener!!

you guys are just making me think of Me, Myself and Irene, the cow in the road scene, in that movie

Must say I've never encountered an EMU in the road. Glad it came out OK. BTW, what do you guys carry on your bikes down there that they could use as a lasso???
