BIG overheating problem!

My 'Busa used to do this to me when stock. But as I've seen with other posts on the site, having had the beast tweeked, the problem is very bad. When hot, my baby cut's out completely! I thought I'd cured the problem, but it's done it twice this morning. Ok when running, but when braking down to a stop, so does the engine. It fires back up again as soon as I hit the starter but it's pissing me off.

I'm going to invest in some Evans coolant if I can find any in the UK. Does anyone else have, or had, this cutting out when hot problem?

Does anyone know how I can reduce the temp at which the fan will cut in?

sound more like vapor lock then overheat problem make sure the hoses under the rear of the tank are clear and not pinched or the next time it does it try to ride it with the gascap taped down but not locked so it can breath.

Yup, the fan is coming on just as the needle covers the white center marker, Frank. By this time it's getting too hot though.

I'll have a look at the hoses before I go to work this morning too, thanks for the suggestion Johnnycheese. While I'm there, I'll give all the hoses a squeeze to see if I can shift any air-locks in the system.

If I'm getting a vapour-lock problem, would replacing the current cooling mixture with one with a little less water and a little more anti-freeze reduce the probability of excess vapour buld-up in the cooling system untill I can get hold of some Evans coolant. (Know where I can get some in the UK, buy the way?)

Yep , agree with Johnnycheese , must be something else. I`m riding mine daily in a country called Namibia ( Africa) , the warmest place on the face of the earth (average 40 - 45 Degrees celcius). Never had overheating trouble (touch wood) 10000 miles on.

Checked the coolant pipes, they're OK. Cut-out again right at the end of the run. I'll try the petrol-cap (gascap!) thing on the run home tonight and lift the tank, see what's going on under there.

Frank, Johnnycheese.... Thanks for your input on this one. I think I've got it. I lifted the tank to have a look at the fuel pipes as suggested. The main fuel line was OK BUT... it did have a kink in it. On closer inspection, the rubber hose was as soft as butter with the heat from the engine. It looks like the hose was getting sucked-flat by the fuel demands. As the hose got hotter and softer it just collapsed causing the fuel starvation and subsequent engine stoppage. I've rerouted the fuel line in question so it's not kinked any more. Took a run into Romford last night, covering motorway and dense traffic with no problems at all.

Thanks very much again, guys. Big beer credit to you if you ever come to blighty, come get some.
