Bike destablized with new pilot powers

I just put new Pilot powers on the busa and noticed that the front end has a serious tendency to wobble - almost at any speed. It's like it's lost its stability. Its not that it just goes all over the place. it's like it has been destabilized!

It's rideable, but its like the front is loose or something... Way to sensitive to the movement of arms unlike before.

This is my first new set of tires so thought I'd go to the Pilot Powers. Is this the tires or did the mechs at the shop miss something? HELP!

What pressures are you running? The good tires take some getting use to. If it feels like it wants to fall over in a turn, this is normal,Just take some time to get your confidence back.Hope this helps, NJ.:;):

Also look closley at the Bead area----there is a rubber line on the tire--- it should be even all the way around... It may be possible that the shop did not use enough lube and air pressure to seat the tire on rim properly. Did they balance it also? If you can get the front wheel off the ground and spin it by hand , the tread should'nt wobble much at all, maybe a couple of millimeters--is OK

I've noticed that the bike is a lot more responsive to any input it receives from the rider, but not anything like what you are describing.

What tires were you using before? As already mentioned these tires do allow you to fall into your turn ins very easily and if not used to this style of tire can be very disconcerting until you adjust.

If the shop did not assembled the axel back into the forks properly your front end could be out of spec - if you have the axel nut tool - loosen that axel and pinch bolts and just snug everything back up and push the forks up and down and then check to see if everything is aligned properly - then retighten to spec.

You have a problem that is just not "new tires"

The tires lay right down into the corners, no prob. But it shouldn't be wobble-ville comming out of the corner - right? I had the original BattleAxes on it prior to this.

If I'm going down the road and the wind blows, the front end feels easily moved from its position. Like it's wanting to wobble not go straight. I started looking to see if they took off my steering damper or something... it's weird!

Think I'll take it back to the dealer...

The backwards tire idea - for real? I'll check the sidewall and see if there's an arrow pointing the wrong direction.

I would prefer to take it to the dealer knowing what the major part of the prob is rather than someone trying to put as little troubleshooting into it as possible. Know what Imean...

Thanks for the support on this.

I'll keep you posted.

Just an update on this...

I haven't gone to the dealer yet with this... I'm trying to make sure I get a handle on things...

checked the bead - looks ok. Checked the pressure - was way low on the front - going from 28 to 36 stabilized things a bit.

The bars are very easy to wiggle at 85mph... the tail wags very easily now.. I've been trying to move around on the bike to see what is feeling like what...

It's almost like the gyroscopic effect is off kilter - almost pulses one way, then the other... which tells me - what? balance or something to do with the way they reassembled the wheels.

More thoughts on this? I don't want to have the stealer troubleshoot this for me... I don't trust the dorks.

more feedback?

And thanks for the advice thus far...

The original tires call for 42 lbs of pressure (measure when tires are cold) ... not sure what the new ones require. I wouldn't ride and wait to sort things out. Get it checked!

Take it in and get it checked! It's obvious there's something wrong and procrastinating may end up getting you killed. What if the tire is defective due to a bad cord? Now picture the outcome when the cord in that FRONT TIRE lets go while travelling down the road at 85 mph.

Bad part is the dealer may not want to help you now since it's been 3 weeks.

pop it up to 42 lbs and see what ya get...the rear you may also wanna check the alignment...

I think these tires are the sh1t I'd hate to hear that someone has a problem with them.
