Bike Hitting a SMALL deer

he didn't even have time to react to it. like it's happening so fast you can see it but can't move quick enough to avoid it

Besides hitting the deer, I'm trying to analyze exactly what happened there.

I hit deer that size twice and managed to keep the bike up. Last was 2up on a Harley, doing about 55 mph and it cost me $60 to repair, just needed a new indicator light. First was a long time ago, doing about 95mph, T-boned a deer, killed it with no bike damage. Those were the days with no plastics, no time to think, but before impact I instinctively stopped braking and yanked the front up, went right over the deer.

From the video it looks as if he used way too much front brake and instead of trying to take the weight off the front wheel at impact, which would have allowed him to go over the deer, he flipped the bike.

He was coming up on that curve really fast, if he had done that he wouldn't have enough time to put the front tire back down and make the curve.

ooo- not a fun day...didnt the deer know it was supposed to be asleep during the day?? what about looking both ways?? stupid deer...

Ouch, it looked like a pretty small deer, made the front tuck and flipped the bike.

It all happens very quick, very quick. The one that got me hit my front tire from the side all I could due was tuck and looked down at the deers head on my left side. I instantly lost the front and didnt even know I was down until I heard the plastics scraping the pavement.

I hate those critters!

Wow, I know the 1st reaction is to grab the brake but in all the videos it seems like braking is the worse thing you can do. I hope the deer is dead or suffering, poor guy and bike.

Yep, thats one of my biggest riding fears. When it comes to senseless drivers you can at least figure for some margin of extra caution, but that deer was like Houdini!
