I have been researching bike to bike communicators because my wife will soon have her license. It is imperative to me that we be able to talk to each other. After looking at Autocom, firefox, chatterbox, etc. I have come to the conclusion that the high end systems use a two way radio via headset and PTT or VOX. I found this head set I like, nothing to install and there should be no road noise because the mic works from the vocal cords in your throat. Check this out Link to Mic . With options of a one pin or two pin motorola, I can use just about any motorola two way radio and build this system for less than 200 bucks. Anyone else try this?

I like my Chatterbox (the cheap version) because I can talk with family on the walkie talkies that are sold at Wal-Mart, Best Buy, ETC.

Randy, I have an email into them now, waiting for a response before I order them. Looks like a reasonable product. I like the fact that it allows no other noise because it does not use air as a medium to transfer voice. If I do order them, I will let you know how they work out.

Ray, I have looked at the Chatterbox's, and to set me and the wife up, we are looking at 400 bucks, 199.00 per helmet, with a range of only 2 miles. With this set up, the range is dependent on the type of radio I purchase. Motorola Talkabouts are available at Radioshack with a 16 mile range for 39.99 per set of 2. I think, or I hope, with this set up, we could also talk to others with a two way radio.

My husband and I bought something similar for our walkie talkies to use out on the sand.   The problem we found is that you have a very hard time discerning words.  It sounds as though you are talking very quietly and without moving your lips.

see if you can get a break on 2 units... will go in with you

Then I can taunt you at Spring bash to catch up
