bikes to choose

I am currently debating on which bike i want. So which one would you buy for street riding. Strictly steet no track time at all. Ocassional two up riding may a quarter of the time you spend riding. Also some kinda long distance 3 hours mostly interstate and you also plan to do a ride out to the tail of the dragon about an 8 hour ride stay in a hotel ride the dragon and ride back. No trailer for this part. I know i don't need such large bikes but i have pretty much narrowed down between these two bikes. Any view points would be great. Also for the busa owners do you have more than one bike or is that your only ride. I am basically trying to figure out which bike will mostly satisfy my all around needs and fun factor.

Thanks

Problem is there are so many nice ones out there.

GF wanted to ride again after a four year absense so we went with the FJR. Added a GIVI top box color matched and Russell Day Long saddle being built now.

Connie is a sweet ride also.

the bus is the most stable bike i've ever had.
but the weight in the front end means if you start to lose the front, it's really difficult to save it.
the busa is best for 2 up riding of all sporties i've had.
it has a lower passenger seat that the 1k's, so yer chick dosen't sit up high and bent over like on the literbikes. also nice grab rail.
the busa's top end is utterly fantastic (add a +2 rear sprocket and it really wakes it up)making dicing in and out of traffic a breeze. it RUNS AWAY from literbikes.
and if you're into wheelies, add the sprocket i mentioned, and at around 15mph, in first, hit the gas and it comes up like a wet dream

I have the '03 H-D Low Rider for cruizin', touring and taking the kiddies out for a ride and I have the '06 LE for "me, myself and I" time. Both bikes have all the gear for long trips, short trips, good, warm weather riding and bad, cold weather riding - not that I've used it all, but I could... I'm comfortable on my bikes for the way I ride them - it all depends on what "fits" you.

The spouse has a Suzuki DL1000 VStrom - outfitted for whatever road he chooses to take... great all around bike. Here's the fleet...

I ride two CBXs, old relics

and tour on all three, my Busa being the 3rd. Love them all. For two up touring my 82 X and the Busa are the contenders. Been all over the northwest on all of them and they all perform well. You're passenger will make the ultimate decision so make the right choice (before) you buy.

so craigntx is the busa your only bike or do you have bikes to choose from.
i've had a 03 gsxr1k lately besides the bus
its actually what i perfected my wheelies on. (i put 25k on it). i had a 01 busa i put 33k on b4 it was ripped.
but for me and my physical stature and health, it was a misery to ride at anything but breakneck speeds (i'm 6'1 and 200lbs)i've got arthritis in my neck and carpal in my hands) so anytime i was stuck in traffic or going slow, i was in utter misery (vicodin helped a little)
a '00 zx9 gave me the same misery
the busa just fits me better.
my 05 has 43k on it

all by me
if i had extra money i might consider a bandit also to keep the miles off the busa, but i'm a serious speed freak, and it'd prolly just dissapoint me

I used to own an 01 gsxr1000 and i like that bike and could do an easy 5 six hours of riding no problem. I did not like how wide the bike was in comparison to the pegs because it made my thighs hurt. Does the busa have the same problem.

ya know, i used to cramp up like that too, but its been awhile, fortunately

No track time at all, then don't get the gixxer.  That's what it was designed for.

Go for the Busa.  You ccan get a double bubble to get more mind off of you, are cushier seat, raise the handlebars, saddle bags and maybe a couple other mods and you can ride long distance no problem.

I have a gsxr750 and a Busa, but I spend most of my riding at the track or in the canyons!

I have an 07 GSXR 1000 K7, an 06 LE Hayabusa and an 01 & 98 Suzuki 1200 Bandit. If all you are looking for is a nice bike to ride, capable of doing everything from commuting to double riding to sportbike riding and an occasional track day if the mood hits you would be hard pressed to find a better bike than the Hayabusa. My Hayabusa is absolutely my favorite bike. I never thought the day would come that my Bandits would not be my favorite bikes of all time, but the Hayabusa won me over. Hope this helps.

i was considering a k7 1000gsxr. good to hear from a person that has both.

charlesbusa, you put your busa on the track. I always figured them to be too heavy for such a thing.
Too heavy, heck no!

I always run into people at the track that are surprised I'm on a Busa and then even more surprised when I pass them

That's me in my avatar at Miller Motorsports Park.

I do trackdays, not the drag strip.  A couple mods and the Busa's extra weight isn't noticeable.  Sure it won't flick as quickly as a 750, it'll take more effort from the rider and its brakes aren't as good.  But its plenty for doing trackdays.

There was even a Busa that was a race bike a few years ago.  The rad busa.  They had to stop racing it when the AMA changed the FX class rules.  Sure it wasn't stock, but is a GSXR1000 superbike stock?

Here's a pic of the rad busa;

My 06 Busa has lighter wheels and rotors, revalved and resprung forks and shock and that's it. I have taken it to one track day and was suprised out how well it worked. Keeping in mind it wasn't a scratchers track, but instead Big Willow which would actually work to the advantages of the big Bus, I was able to get within 2 seconds of the times I was turning on my CBR 1000rr. I turn mid 1m29's on my 1000 and on the Bus I got down to a comfortable 1m32 flat and felt I could go a little quicker with some time. The Hayabusa just flat works.

The flip side to this, I did 2 2100 mile mini vacations on my Busa riding double and wouldn't want to even begin to think what that would have been like on my GSXR 1000. The GSXR is a better track weapon, a better lane splitting sifting through traffic bike and a better tight canyon bike. Other than those specific scenarios I chose to ride the Busa every time. Besides that, whenever I get on the Busa I feel like I am riding something special. Sounds kind of gay but that's the only way I can describe the feel of riding this bike.

You should try and hit some trackdays with us!!

I had a slight dirbike mishap last year breaking my hip, femur and shoulder. Consequently I gained about 40 pounds during the not walking stage. I am back on track and getting better every day, including the flexibility in my hip. Hopefully by March/April I will be ready to go again. You can count on me joining in when that happens.
