black radiator?

Anybody make a black radiator and oil cooler for a Busa?

And would it effect efficiency? Don't see why, auto radiators are black.

I got the "postal" screens and they look great but would still rather not see big tin starring back at me from the fairing slots. (Just think it would look better)

not sure how it would effect the fins on the rad. I am curious about this myself, hope someone replies with some fact's that will help us out on this.

Hmmm...never thought of that. A black rad would look great on my all blacked out bike. Someone help us out here.

I would think powder coating or using some sort of Hi heat paint to rattle can it would conflict with the heat dissipation of the radiator.

Yeah, I don't think powder coat would be a good idea. It would probably hold the heat in. And if you used some of that high temp rattle can grill paint I think it would be even worse since that stuff is designed to insulate.

Well how the heck do they make black car radiators? Do they paint them or (Newb question) black aluminum?

I would be wary of painting. Air flow reduction as well. Black Rads would be great.

the earlier busas had black radiators and oil coolers, 99-02 for sure. ebay yours and buy an older one or paint it

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the color black attracts but also dissipates heat better.

I didn't know that. It just struck me that my 02 has a black oil cooler but a silver radiator. That probably means it was changed at some point? Was this on all '02s or just the SE?

There's a place here in CT on Demming Road in Berlin called Radiator Barn. I believe they dip them. I brought a radiator there years agio to get a leak fixed - got it back and thought it was factory fresh and was told they get diped.

Clean it, scuff it and spray it with high temp paint.

I masked off the side tanks and sprayed the core with high-temp black paint two winters ago. I've had no overheating or other related problems since then. I think it does look better than the all-silver radiator.

Has anyone used this on the Busa? I would like to do this, but don't want to cause problems if it has not been tested.
Never on a busa, but have use it on several corvette restorations and my big trucks. I start off with a radiator out of the vehicle.....spray easy oven oven cleaner thru the fins on liberally on the tanks....let it sit 20 minutes........use a garden hose to spray in a FAN pattern(not a stream) to keep from bending fins(eastwood also sells fin rakes to straighten bent fins). spray a degreaser over the clean radiator and spray with water again. let dry.....2 thin coats and you are good to go.

Radiator paint is thinner to begin with....I can asure that you will not have an overheating problem. The problem with spaying a radiator is that you are just caking paint over top of paint thats on the fins to begin with. oven cleaner will take care of that.

Never did like looking into the vents & seeing the radiator. when I had the fairings off for paint & screens I sprayed the radiator with flat black enamel. Looks/works ok.
