BMC air filter

Hey guys! My question was originally I was going to go with the race version until I read that you have to chop on your air box to make it fit, is the street version a direct replacement>no chopping required lol. Thanx brothers

Never heard that before? Gen 1? As I know the race version is a direct swap on the Gen 2.

never heard of chopping with ANY BMC air filters..

Remember air filters are on a scale..
Power VS Filteration
Is it really a great idea to sacrafice engine protection to gain .0000008101 of a HP

Yes the BMC "race" version is a direct replacement for the factory air filter. No mods required.

There was a thread if you search bmc race filter that a guy said you have to do the small air box mod so it will fit down in the bottom because the bottom is larger on the race filter? I have a gen 1 and was just curious befor i bought it.

I am not a mechanic but the small airbox mod is done NOT BECAUSE OF FITMENT issues but to "allow MORE air" in.

Good write up by GIXERHP for a Gen I: LINKY>>> https://www.hayabusa.org/forum/engine-performance-mods/63816-small-air-box-mod.html

small airbox mod is done to create more power and allow more air to flow since your going to be tuning for a better flowing filter
