OK so I have a pair of trusty old Bates Sport racer boots that I have been riding with for 18 years (bought em at the USGP in 88!) now and they fit like a glove, they are truly one of my prize possessions! Well it appears that I have been getting a bit too frisky of late and seem to have worn through the sole where my toes (size 14) drag. I find myself wanting to add some kind of metal rub strip or something out there to postpone the horror of replacement. Ultimately I think a set of Sidi's might be in the Cards. But in the meantime I can't bear to get rid of these. I can now see why Mike Hailwood used to get Bloody Toes when he raced! I have some really thin Stainless steel plate stock that would work but I am trying to think of how to attach it to the Rubber sole of the boot. I was thinking of trying a Urethane and some small screws??? Anybody got any great ideas?
