ok. so I've made up my mind on what brand of braided brake lines to get... but I'm not sure if I want to get them plain or get them with the clear covering?

what are the pros and cons of this covering (clear)

which ones have you guys picked... plain or covered?

Get the clear covering on them. It keeps them clean and looking good throughout their lifespan. Also the SS braiding is like a file without the covering and anything it rubs against will show some serious wear marks.

Sorry forgot to add that I got the HEL lines and they offered a smoked clear jacket on them which looks like carbon fiber.

more more question for ya!!!

why do some say to stay away from aluminum made fitting's?

I kind of like the colored fitting some makers have?

so if I go with the ones with the clear covering, they wont ever start to yellow will they? ( you know ,when they start getting old; or show sings of sun damage? )

I don't think that they will discolor. I'm running Goodbridge and Galfers on mine with the clear cover. I've found that periodic cleaning with a glass cleaner with alcohol (not ammonia) will keep those lines in tip-top shape.

I don't know what you paid for or are going to pay for your lines, but I would check out Newport Cycle for some good prices. I got all (i.e. front and rear brake and clutch) lines for $150. I've bought quite a bit of stuff from Newport cycle and they have good prices and a wide selection of bike stuff.

Get the clear coated ones. Keeps the lines clean and looking good and it don't sratch/rub against the metal on the bike
