Breaking in a new Hayabusa

You will get many different opinions on this one but here goes.

Follow the rpm per miles that the factory recommends but make sure U use the power availiable at those rev ranges.

Do not baby the bike around for the 1600kms because this does not allow the rods-pistons-crank to heat up under power. If you baby it to much it can glaze the bores and a lip may form well below TTDC so when you give it the first handful after 1600kms, the top ring can break.

Change the oil every 500kms and look at the oil, it can tell you how well your engine was built.

I used synthetic from the outset, Mobil 1 (motorcycle).

I follow the Manufacturers recs,I kept it under 5500 rpm for the first 500 miles, but I roll on the throttle in 6th gear right up to the 5500 mark(about 110 mph),DO NOT cruise at the same speed for long periods, always vary speed and load, after 500 miles its under 8000 rpm till 1000 miles.

What ever you do, don't roll out, tap the clutch and whack it---Not even in second, up to 5,500 of course.

You will discover that following the Suzuki methods you will have a bike that will last long, but be down on hp. The busa has *WAY* much torque for that. It needs to be hit *real* hard (rev limiter) about 10 times, then ride it into the sunset. It will make more hp, and still last quite a while.

How do you think they break in road race bikes? Not by keeping them under 5500 rpm for 600 miles. I have done this for the last 2 years on our races bike, never lost a piston, or any internal component.

Did break the oil pump gear putting the clutch back on and the engine still ran 10 laps (with NO oil) in the Las Vegas heat.

i ran the hell out of mine from the begining..lol..didn't care about the ring's seating or any thing else. knew i was going to do a 1430 motor. so i went and had one of the best times of suzuki riding life....frank:>

I am going to buy a Hayabusa later this month and i was just wondering how do i go about on breaking it in, could anyone tell me how i can break it in properly, or if anyone has any stories on how they broke their's in???
