After reading Yamahor's post on the comparisons between Britten and Buell () I had to dig into my DVD's and find a gem from the Discovery Channel which has a chapter on the John Britten story. The DVD is called, "", and has a fantastic mini-documentary on John Britten and his run with the big boys in the early 90's. I ripped the part on Britten from the DVD, converted it to Divx AVI, and uploaded it to the web. The file runs 12 minutes and is 115 MB, so only broadband need apply. Of course, if you like this preview, buy the DVD and support other great motorcycle titles from Discovery. Anyway, watch this and I think you'll agree that Britten's genious was truly unparalleled.

, as well as Eddie Lawson's favorite (V-Max) and Freddie Spencer's favorite, the 1800 Goldwing. Who knew?

They had an article on Britten in Motorcyclist mag w/in the last year. The guy was amazing, especially the way he designed and fabricated his bikes with almost no hi tech production facilities.:41:

He was so far ahead of his time. Another who left us too soon

Don't recall the year but I was at a Formula USA race at Seattle international raceway some time back in the late 90's I think. Anyways Rob Muzzy was there with Scott Russell and the Britten was also there. I was standing in the pits gawking at the Britten. It was the early one with the full bodywork. Rob Muzzy came walking into the pits and was talking with a guy that I believe was John Britten. Muzzy was asking a bunch of questions about The Fuel injection setup. It was adjustable on the fly and Muzzy was a bit envious. Russell Smoked everybody in the rain day, but what really stuck with me was just sitting there listening to these two icons yammering away about something that is in their blood. John Britten passed long before his time! His bike is on my all time list of favorites.

It might not have been Britten if it was in the late 90's. Britten died in 1995. I can only imagine what creative desgns he'd be coming up with now if he was still with us.

On the flipside of my post, I would LOVE to see what Britten would have come up with today....... it's sad

This was the early version with the full bodywork so I am not sure what year they came out with the smaller bodywork. I think Gary Goodfellow was the rider. It might have been earlier than I thought. I will have to investigate. Here is a pic of the old style body.

Russell's Muzzy Kawasaki from the same race. Any old timers out there recall the year? Rained like mad for the main. Russell was amazing to watch that day.
