JohnnyC seems to be on to the right track. Probably the fluid rather than something mechanical.
My first thoughts were that something's amiss in the clutch master-cylinder/hydraulic-hose/slave-cylinder system. Flushing the clutch fluid and bleeding the system will probably bring it back to spec. I would really doubt if there's anything mechanically wrong with the clutch.
Seems to me they would have bled the clutch system before "taking apart the clutch". What, have they got some kinda newbie tech back there?
If it's really just moisture/air in the clutch fluid, it might not be a bad idea to have them flush and bleed the brakes too. You REALLY don't want those to go away on ya.
