BST Front Wheel Issue

I recently purchased a set of BST wheels and everything is great except an annoying clicking sound from the front wheel. I tried removing and re-installing 7 times, changing the torque specs from stock to a little tighter to a little looser and I still get a rotational clicking sound. Brock's said that sometimes the bearings click until they are broken in but now that I've put a few miles on them I don't think that's it. Here's the confusing part, the clicking is also directly related to load bearing. If I put the front end on a jack stand and spin the wheel by hand there is no clicking. It appears there are about 3 clicks per one full rotation of the wheel when on the ground. Sometimes I can ride the bike for awhile then stop and roll it and no clicking. So its also intermitting. Axle appears straight and no whobbling when I spin the front wheel by hand. Any help is always appreciated.

Crack in the one of the bearing races maybe. You may be able to carefully remove a seal and take a look.

Id call brocks for some new bearings. Depending on how many miles you've done, they should be seated by now.

Thanks guys for the tips. I kind of thought it could only be the bearings as nothing else really moves. I thought maybe the spacers but if it's torqued correctly there would be enough pressure on them to keep them from moving or rotating with the bearing.

How many miles do you think it takes to seat the bearings?

or Dave at WorldWide if they are not already Ceramic.

Thanks, they are ceramic. I called Brocks when I first heard the noise and they said that sometimes the bearings will make this noise but should go away after the bearings seat but I was not 100% sure he knew what he was talking about because he couldn't answer other questions I had so I thought I would reach out to the board.

That was a great tip to contact Dave and I felt I needed to post the letter I sent to Dave. I won't share what he did because every situation requires different attention but Dave exemplifies how to stand behind your product.

"I have to say, I am extremely yet pleasently surprised and thankful for the service I recieved from you today. You didn't have to do what you did for me but you did. You could have said, contact Brocks but you didn't. I did call Brocks and they recommended that I send the entire wheel back which would have been an inconvenience to say the least.

I'm a retired disable vet and perhaps a little cynical due to what I've seen and been through in my life but you have just restored a little more faith in me that there are good people out there. To experience customer service like this was beyond anyone's expection".

brocks probably wanted to double check the install, verify that it's the bearings that are bad, rather than the wheel, or the install. did they offer to cover the shipping?

No, shipping wasn't discussed. We decided to let Dave send the bearings and check that first.

Me too. It isn't good having a problem with the wheels.

The issue never resolved itself. Never could figure out that clicking noise, so I rolled the dice and raced it anyways with no issues - 9.59 at 5700 ft - crappy 60 ft. I've been racing it ever since with no issues.

I wish Dave would get back to me.....We have 20 people ready to buy his rear sets.

By saying ever since no issues you mean 'still clicks just hasn't developed any other problems' or 'no issues doesn't click anymore' ?

The clicking did go away eventually and I never figured out what caused it in the first place. One thing I can say for sure is that I would re-buy again. The clicking was annoying at first and only heard it when rolling the bike at very slow speeds but to me it didn't seem to pose any safty concerns which is why I raced any ways. The specs on the BST wheels are very accurate, I did reduce my times by .2 seconds.
