I am going to change my BT 56J model rear tire and I was wondering from the been there done that crowd what would be a good choice. I am looking for a decent milage tire but still has some stickyness for twisty's. I am also looking for some ideas on where to get this rear tire and a good price for it. I live near San Diego, Ca

Any help would sure be apreciated.

BOP, the tire of choice on the Busa seems to be the Pilots. I just wore out a set, and I almost doubled my mileage from the Bridgestones, plus I had more grip and the same predictability.

The only problem is that the word is out on how good they are. After nursing my old ones for almost a month, I broke down and installed a set of 207s because nobody had a clue when the Pilots would be in. They have been back ordered for weeks.

Now I've gotta wear out these Dunlops before I can get Pilots again. Maybe they will have the supply thing fixed by then.

Incidentally, the 207s seem to be better than the Bridgestones, but they definitely suck compared to the Pilots.

I heard from a guy that the 207 st. were the best st. tires made but I told him that the Pilot's were better but I'm still waiting for the rear and have been for 3 weeks. Am I wrong for waiting????

The ss are a good tire too, not as stable above 150, but better tire life than the J spec. Of coarse pilots are the best from what I've heard. I am considering the Avon Azaro's, heard they are a good rain tire, also very "Wide" in comparison to the others.

Those of you who had questions about the availability of the pilots....I just mail ordered a set from MAW and they had plenty in stock. Chapparal only has the rear 190's in stock.

The Azaro is a good tyre, but not as good in the wet as a Pilot Sport or D207.

You could always run a Azaro AV36 rear and AV27 front for best wet weather performance but the front tyre won't last as long as the standard Azaro.

IMHO Pilot Sports are the best compromise for Busa's re grip against mileage.

Azaros also tend to slow the steering a little.

Thanks DangerMouse,
I've still got maybe another 1000 miles before I need to change, and wet weather traction is very important to me.

A daddy busa, I don't know how bad your current set of tires is. I held off until my rear tire was through two layers of cord and the front was beveled flat with no tread left on the sides. I finally had to change or quit riding.

I'm still in shock over the 5000 miles I got from the rear Pilot. I got as little as 1800 from the OEM BS's.

The 207s aren't bad as a second choice. Maybe the Avons might be better, but I haven't used them so I don't know.

FOR DRAG RACING AND STREET USE THE PILOT RACE MEDIUM IS THE BEST.ITS EVEN BETTER THAN THE 003 STEALTH.THE PILOT HEATS UP FAST WITHOUT HAVING TO BURN THE TIRE OFF.

scratch what I said about MAW. They called back and said the pilots were out of stock after they told me they were in stock. They can go %^&$#$%^^&^$##@!!!! Anyway I ordered the mez3's. I'll see how they work.
