BT010 200 rear tyre

I want to fit a BT010 200 section tyre and know it will fit the wheel, but, it doesnt look like i will be able to get the wheel back on the bike as the chain will be touching the tyre!!

Has anyone fited one successfully, or do i have to stick with a 190?
Any help gratefully received.

GSX, the J tire is not 198 (I think Johnny came up with that). It's actually 188, exactly like two of my buddies Dunlop 190's. My valkyrie's 180 is actually 178, so the pattern seem to be 2mm less than it says. As far as the 200s, several people tried them as you said, and clearance seem to be okay. I want to try the avons next, which supposedly run a little wider than 190.

Ok well thanks for the responses, I'll get the tyre and see how it goes. I'll let you know what happens!

The BT56J is a special tire for the busa the tread surface radius is 198mm, usually what you said is true but this tire is a one of with a different tread compound and plys designed for sustained high speeds. If you dont believe me ,measure it(make sure it`s new) and do a little research. Also Avon Azaro`s 190`s are a true 190mm.You can get info on tires, radius ,arc, crown, circumference, ply composition and design, side wall hights, weight, compound and speed and weight ratings by calling the manufacturers.

GSX, the J is only different in compound from the SS, according to a BStone tech. The radius is much less than 190, and the circumference much more. The 190 is measured with a caliper with long clamps from edge to edge (read width). The curvature can change and you still have a 190 (that's common in front tires, where some are more cupped than others). I didn't measure the circumference with the dunlops, but both have identical width. This talk is b.s. Nobody rides at 190mph sustained, so any z-rated tire will do fine for 99.999% of riders, in either 190 or 200.

Valklex,

At the Busa's official world launch Feb. last year at that Spanish circuit, the whole world was told by Bridgestone and Suzuki reps together that the special Busa J version of that rear 190/50 BT56 was actually 198mm width and this is what gsx1300rguy was referring to. If you think you know better or you think that measuring it on the rim is any indication, then you should do the same with the 200 tire(s) for comparison and deciding if there's room for it.
In general, there's a lot of differences in the actual width of tires claimed to be the same size and even within one brand of tires these differences appear (like 120/70 and 120/65 of same brand/type being different width.
The actual width also depends on the width of the rim it's mounted on so there's too many variables there to "simplify" things like you did.

Alot of us are waiting for the 200 Pilot, mine have been on back order for 6weeks.My 190 Avon Azaro`s were toast so I bought a set of Bridgestone battleaxe SS`s while I wait for the Pilots to come in.These tires Rock and were only $180 bucks to my door.If you need tires now the B-stones are hard to beat, for the price/performance,while you wait for your 200 Pilots to come in.

Here are specs from Dunlops website:

Yamaha YZF R1, Suzuki TL1000R and GSXR 600/750,
and the Honda CBR600 F4.
All Tires radial constructin and "Z" rated. Rear tire's
construction features JLB (jointless belt).

So the Dunlop 207`s 190 tire is 7.63 inches wide? That would equal 193.802mm ,correct?Taking in to account that 1 inch = 25.4mm.

Whilst we are talking tyres, I could fit either Michelin or Pirelli 200's instead, the BT010's seem impossible to get just yet. Does anyone know what they are like and how wide they are?

Well just to you all know that I have just come off the phone to Bridgestone technical support, and they tell me that the BT56J is still the only tyre still approved for use on the busa. They say it is oversized to 197 mm (across the crown) and they do not know when the bt010 will be approved. They also said that they didnt know when they would be able to supply the 200 size......so what im gonna do is fit Michelin TX25 (Hi sport) in a 200 size which i presume is the equivilent to the USA Pilot sport and see how that goes.
Dare i ask if anyone knows how wide the TX25 really is?, is it less than 200 or more than 200?

Dirty Pete has run the 200 tx25 on his Busa and says he likes it because he`s a tailslider.Which means you can spin this tire pretty easy.It is NOT the same as the Pilot and I heard it`s wet weather capabilitys are questionable.

Youre right, ive just checked with michelin about this very thing. For some reason tho there are no 200 size pilot sports available yet in the UK yet, i cant believe it.
