BTMOTO VS CARBONSMITH.

OK we need someone to do this. Heads up on the dyno which is the better stack? I know most are sponsored by or refuse to do anything BTMoto because they use woolich and make their money on tunes. I'm just interested in the stacks themselves. I'm already invested in my woolich setup. Just debating between these two stacks....

You might to harass Chris Moore about that. I'm sure you'll see +/- of both but nothing crazy. Our cams and heads are tiny cute small. Interested in a 13.5:1 high Comp build with heads done to be honest. Factory bore or 1mm over to get the piston wall clearance perfect.

So my bike is currently CM flash + dimpled carbon smith.

But this just showed up today

Gimme a week or so to get everything put together and I’ll have 60-150 and 2nd through 4th gear real world data.

dyno run time. Do you have anyone close that would do 3 runs for each ?
There are a few bike shops with dynos within an hour of me but I’ll be honest after having $2,000+ wrapped up in stacks and flashes, another ~$300 for dyno pulls isn’t overly high on my list of things I want to do. What IS high on my list of things to do though is to commit speed related felonies on the freshly repaved and leveled 2.5 mile highway with my draggy on my handlebars lol.

I’ll take up a collection for dyno pulls if everyone wants to pitch in. The west coast BT associate shop is by me I’m sure I could have them make pulls with the CM setup and then swap the BT stuff in the parking lot and get back on the dyno 30 minutes apart between pulls.

So did you ever have it actually tuned after installing all your other goodies or are you just running the moore mafia generic flash?

Nope never got tuned. I just have the off the the shelf flash with the adjustments for the CS stacks (I bought mine from Moore at the same time). Stock motor doesn’t need more than that IMO.

On your brand new bike.... dontcha want to make sure its not running lean? or running rich? It is a beautiful bike, Its worth it to check things out. You spent thousands for the go fast goodies for the motor. Its worth it to make sure the motor is happy. something to think about.

It’s just something that never crossed my mind. CM is well known and the tunes are pushed by people much more extreme levels than I am. Everything on my bike was there or purchased with the tune and I’ve definitly always been a “use the parts your tuner uses” kind of person.

Additionally, no shop around here is very well thought of tuner wise so I took the gamble in CM flash vs a tuner in person with a 50/50 reputation.

Always tune. Our bikes don't have knock sensors to pull timing and save the engine from knock or backfires. It's either tune or risk a valve popping your valve buckets out of the valve cover like somany people have learned the hard way.

If you have the Woolich auto tune wide band kit it's not that hard to update the map.

I understand what you’re both saying, and if this was a big CC motor or a turbo motor, I’d have shipped the bike somewhere and had it dynod and then street tuned for perfect adjustment. But it’s not. It’s a stock motor bike with off the shelf bolt ons. There are thousands of people running flashed bikes from CM across the country and we don’t hear stories of them blowing up but there are dozens of stories of my local “tuner” leaving tunes at that ragged edge and them coming apart within months. I originally picked CM because of his reputation. I switched to BT because the only other local busa is running a BT flash and was the first person on the west coast to get one so I know what the out of the box flash looks like AFR wise because his is the bike in the dyno you see I. Their marketing. It’s safe enough through all RPM bands for me to be happy with so I don’t plan on tweaking it at all either.

I like the woolich auto tune. And again if I wasn’t a stock motor, I’d have it. But I don’t do I trust the professionals without second guessing them.

FYI if you didn't know but with draggy you can setup custom mph/kph tracking. If you are planning on doing 4th gear testing you might want to setup some of those so you are seeing times specifically for 4th gear and not including the shift.

Ive had a drag since they first came out to keep track of street testing with my grudge car and roll car. It definitely comes in handy when doing minor mods to see if poop actually makes a difference.

Im going to do 3 hits back to back to back with the CM/CS setup and then pull into the garage and while the BT flash is writing swap the stacks to get as close to same day back to back identical weather conditions as I can. Im lucky that my test track is 1/4 mile from my house and rarely patrolled because it leads out into the middle of no where. I know I'll get both test hits done in the same day, im hoping to just not have to do it in the middle of the night and piss my wife off with noise.

Ooookay looks like Thursday I’ll finally have the time to get some testing in.

I planning 3 runs starting in 2nd 60-150 (or whatever 4th gear will wind out too with stock gearing) which I figure is real world roll racing for the most of us. I’m also not trying to fight the bike in 1st gear hits and having to abort because of a spin or a wheelie.

Is there any secondary test anyone wants monitored in that? I can plug anything into the draggy if you want only 8k+ or whatever monitored just let me know what speed to start and finish at. I’ll film it all with the GoPro and do my best to be consistence so it’ll all be real world results
