Buell foot pegs

Does anyone have a picture of the buell foot pegs on a stock exhaust bike?
Just wondering if your heels are touching the exhaust pipes.
Thankx

yes, your heels can/will touch the mid pipes... I never had any problems with that as they do not really get hot enough to do any damage I guess.... Now my TiForce is a different issue, the Buells let my right heal touch the can and it DOES get hot enough..

I just installed my set yesterday and no your heels won't touch the stock exhaust. Though my big feet do rub up against the nub on the kick stand.

Note left side touches mid pipe:

Right side has about 1/4" clearance.. the mid pipe is almost a floor board for these guys but I have not seen any complaints about burned shoes/boots etc..

Mine are the same. One side note when I installed the Buells they seem to push your foot outboard slightly and I had to put a short Piece of plastic tubing on my shifter to get it back out where it belonged. I have seen other more elaborate arrangements as well. This wasn't a big deal and you can most likely get used to it. I just wasn't content to leave well enough alone.

You should ride for a week or two, you will find that your heels will easily rest on the mid pipes after riding for a bit unless you are always on your toes on the pegs.. I have 13,000 miles on mine (before the TiForce pipe) and the mid pipes end up almost like a running board at times..

There is also an $19 shifter on ebay (chrome with a spring loaded peg) that works wonderful to fix the shifter issue (tends to ride somewhat inboard and can use extended out a bit). Shifting becomes easier on the foot again..

Sorry to hijack the thread, but 2 questions if I may:

Does the 1/2" lower position of the Buell pegs make that big a difference to comfort?

Don't the lowered pegs make gear shifting and rear brake use more difficult (ie: don't the lowered pegs make the gear and brake levers too high)?

more like an 1.5" drop and yes it does make a tremendous difference if you ride long hours. It took a ride that became uncomfortable at 200 miles or so and made it comfy out to 2 or 3 times that far

And yes, you need to adjust both brake and shifter to accommodate the change.. the threaded rod on the brake adj, needs trimmed about a 1/4". The shifter can just be rolled down a notch or 2.. I found that the shifter sits a bit too far inboard after the mod and so the cheapo shifter lever off ebay fixed that issue for me..

Back to the "heel on pipe" issue, look at the photo poppy posted.. keep in mind that that mid pipe is also angled and runs at an angle to the peg (runs above and below the pegs level) it takes little or no effort to rest your heels on the pipe.. You just need to put a few miles on the mod to see this part.. Wont hurt a thing however so is really a "non issue"
