Just like so many of us that did this mod, I couldn't get the shifter low enough without hitting the kickstand when trying to shift. This is what I did.

When I took the linkage off and the rubber off the shift lever I heated it up and it bent like butter. Very easy.

I hope it doesn't drag before anthing else now or you'll have a very nasty surprise when it upshifts...

I currently have relatively non-bulky riding boots so I con't have an issue, but they're about shot and everything that you can get now seems taller (sole to top of boot) so I may have to do something, I'm thinking putting a lttle bow in the sidestand may be a better option if I need it with the new boots.

Well I guess it's a good thing my foot will find the pavement first. I'm not much of a knee dragger anyway...

That is a great modification than we have done several times after doing it the harder way below.

Another fix if you have a mig welder or a buddy who can do it for you is to cut a notch in the outside of the stand just below the spring hook location. Bend the stand back about 10 degrees and fill the now larger gap with weld. Use a torch and bend the very bottom back so that it sits flat onthe ground. Took me about 20 minutes. Make sure you have the kick stand mod done as your bike will sit a couple of degrees more upright.

I was wondering if the aftermarket adjustable kickstand sits at a different angle?

Another mod I did last night was to the kickstand..

Took and heated kickstand and bent it in different places to get the angles I wanted. Works great with no flexing in the stand.

Great I have th exact same problem but someone said it would break if I tried to bend it so I never tried glad you did so I know that I can as well. Did you just use a propane torch a vise and some pliers to make he bend.

I don't think a propane torch will get it hot enough, I used a Oxygen/Acetylen torch with a rosebud tip on it. Heat it till it gets bright red and it will bend easy. Yes a vise and a pair of large channel locks.

You sure that wont effect the strength of the metal??

That stand flexes so must no it freakes me out let alone messing with it?????????
