Building a 99 frame

I was given a 99 frame and a bunch of parts and pieces. I am considering doing a drag bike out of this one. Since the frames seem to be the same, would any year engineer fit? If I go aftermarket ECU and a digital dash, would it matter what harness I have or run? There was a 23 Gen3 engine for sale locally not too long ago, I really considered trying to get it. If I’m going aftermarket ECU, I won’t need the cruise, the mode switching and all that, could I make the old school bar switches work?

That Gen1 frame has center stand mounts cast on to it.
The Gen2 frame is the same, minus the center stand mounts, plus it has four extra holes for push-pins to mount the fairings.
The Gen3 also is the same frame, no center stand mounts, and may or may not have a few extra holes in it.
For a drag bike, the Gen2 is the better engine, as it already has the cams that the Gen3 would need for more peak hp.
The Gen2 engine will bolt right in.
The Gen3 engine 'should', but maybe
@Tony Nitrous could clarify that.
As for using which year harness with an aftermarket ecu, you should talk directly with @smithabusa
and he can answer those questions, and build you whatever you need with a Maxx Ecu setup.

Hi. It is all in how fast you want to go. The gen 1 motor is the best to builg as it has the 20mm piston pins. I wemt with a 2mil stroker crank and a Garrett G-42-1200c turbo with NOS.
