Yeah, I've seen some pics of one cracked 10 frame. I'm keepin' an eye on it. Thanks for the heads up though. That would truly SUCK!

thats what people get for buying a kawasuuuuuuki. hehe

I've seen more pics of *DIFFERENT* busas over the past year with cracks in the frame welds up front than I have 10's with cracked frames. In fact I've only seen that one 10R frame cracked documented in pics.
rock.gif
The rest could just be internet bullshid. Someone saw those pics and all of a sudden had a friend who knew this guy who dated a girl whose father had a 10R and his frame cracked, too.

I kept an eye on the welds on Train because I had seen pics of more than one busa with the problem. I'm keepin' an eye on the 10 frame just in case as well...

Yeah, the crackin' frames could be a real widespread epidemic soon. Who knows. I wouldn't go callin' all of 'em lemons based on a couple pics of one example of the problem on the internet. I know you were prolly jokin' anyway, but maybe you haven't heard about/seen the cracked busa frame pics?
rock.gif
If I had 'em saved I'd post 'em up. Maybe somebody has 'em or knows where to find 'em...

You mean the cracked busa SUB frame?

Yes, in mid-2000 the aluminum subframe was replaced with steel to solve the problem.

I have never seen a cracked Busa frame from wheelieing in 5 years of production. However, I have now seen a pic of a ZX-10R cracked like that in the first year.

Nope, I'm talkin' about the welds at the front of the frame where the steering stem is. Turn your bars all the way either way and look down by the triples on the frame. I've seen pics from more than one busa that had cracks there. I'm almost dead certain that one of them was from this site. Whoever it was was either postin' about tryin' to weld it back up or was askin' if he could weld it back up. If I remember correctly the ins company ended up totallin' that bike out. Maybe someone else will remember who it was...

Seen pics of at least one other busa with the same cracks but it's been so long ago now that it's impossible to remember where. Maybe they were on here, too...

Hey BT is it possible that those cracked busa frames that you have seen pics of were in a wreck at one time or another? I've never seen a busa frame that cracked other than one thats been crashed at some point.

You know that we have to give you some hell now that you ride a kaw.

well the cracked frame really didnt hurt the way it looks too much still not the prettiest thing out there. but still to becareful and keep a good eye out for family.

i have to agree with pain its alright admitting that you messed up is the first step to recovery remember we are all here for you man.... lol

It was my bike.
I lowsided at over 65 MPH, not the Busa's fault. Yes it was totaled.

Yes.

Me too,

and YES!

Could be that both the cracked busas I remember (halfway remember anyway) might have been in crashes. I was thinkin' one of 'em I saw was supposedly on a bike that got wheelied a lot and set down hard. Hell, it's been so long I'm not sure. I could very well be wrong...

Anyway, it's all good.
wink.gif
I knew I'd catch hell. It's worth it though. The 10 experience is worth every jab!

No mistake on my part. I want another busa but I wouldn't trade the 10 for one at all. I'll have to have both or it's gotta be the 10 for me.

Fwiw, I actually (jokingly... I'm not buyin' a new one when I do get ready to find another one.) made an offer on an '05 black/grey busa today. I offered $9800 out the door. The countered with "MSRP plus tax since it's the first 2005 we got in stock".
rock.gif
I laughed at 'em...

As a side note, I had to sit on the busa just to compare it to what I'm used to on the 10 now... I never realized how fuggin' huge the busa actually is!
eek2.gif
I swear that busa felt like a big ass cruise ship to me now! Was also reminded of the longer reach to the bars and the more leaned over ridin' position. Was cool to feel the busa again after experiencing somethin' else. Puts things into a new perspective... A perspective that someone who has never rode a sportbike other than the busa just couldn't understand.
