Burin' daylight?

I was hoping a few more advanced heads could help me clear up a debate I've been having about my gearing for the 1/8th mile; about 75% of last season I switched from a 16/43 to a 16/46 because of wheel spin in first & second. My launch was @ 4900 to 5200 off an MSD w/wot. Clutch out full almost instant. This made my bike hit the rev limiter just as I hit the first timing trap 80% of my passes, some times more towards the center. My basic question is should I short shift 3-4 to stay off the limiter or just letr' eat,and how much time I'm losing this way? I know much of this could have been answered on test and tune nite, but I never changed because I had made instant improvement in 60', e.t. & slight mph.Maybe I've been reading too many posts, just making me think I'm leaving something on the table. Thanks in advance for sharing your time!!

What mph and gear are you looking at? If you are on the limiter you should be quite a bit past your peak.

My mph was around 111 to 115,depending on 60'- mid 1.60's to low 1.50's. I was debating on going back to 16/43. I made about 45 passes before I changed to the 46,which I've made 150 plus passes. This was my first year back on a strip in 10+ years, alot more comfortable now then back in April '07.

Putting a 45 on the rear will take about 300-350 rpm out of it. It shouldn't be enough to hurt your 60's. It may be worth a try to see how it feels.
