Busa insurance

I know a lot of people on here complain about insurance for the Busa[/QUOTE]

Only about 6 times a week. I doubt youd find anything in the archives at all on this subject.

believe it or not, that's good for Progressive.  they quoted me north of 4K a year!

+ thats for no accidents, exp. rider, married, blah blah...

State farm quoted me 35 a month yesterday if I switched my truck too, I currently pay 40 a month for busa, but they were pricier on my truck, it all averaged the same so not worth switching, but might be a good alternative for someone with a cheaper to insure car they dont mind switching to state farm as well.

Im assuming that you didnt go with Progressive? Who do you have?
a smaller insurer called lincoln general. I researched prob. 8 or so insurance companies for price etc. Some wouldn't touch high-displacement sportbikes; sure they'd write a policy, but it'll cost over 4K a year....for the rest, the key was the difference between liability and comprehensive/collision. Liability insurance (even at the max levels) is pretty cheap. The comprehensive (particularly theft - at least here in LA) is absurdly expensive - in most cases, if the bike doesn't get stolen or destroyed in two or so years, you've nearly paid the resale value of the bike itself in premiums! If you're going to spend that kind money, put it in an interest-bearing account and keep the premiums in your own hands. There's risk - the bike could get stolen the day after you buy it....so to each his own.

In the end, I managed to get decent coverage for a little more that 900/year. In LA, that's not too bad.

ps I tried State Farm, but didn't find the premiums to be that cheap; I'd be curious if anyone else in LA has found differently...

Progressive quoted me about the same, I ended up going with nationwide and they were like 450 a year.

Progressive quoted me $2,472 annual for my Busa! Worst part is I'm a BG (Busa Geezer) at 52, and with a clean record. Can you say - wallet rape? Went with State Farm - $700, same coverage as Progressive. Perhaps Progressive's slogan should say, "Progressively making you poorer!" No wonder Progressive can afford all those fancy buildings! -

I shid you not but progressive gave me a $9000 quote. I live near NYC. The agent thought it was a mistake so he called it in and was stunned to find out it was no mistake. I have a perfect driving record and great credit. Could you believe that?
He said the bike was red flagged . They could not turn me down so just make the premium out of this world.

Move to Washington State. No requirement for insurance on motorcycles....

Only if the bank holds your title , then the title holder requires insurance. Full coverage of course.

I've heard of far worse! I have Progressive, and when they were getting my policy updated over the phone, the agent I was talking to told me that he had a kid call not too long before I did, asking to get insured on a Hayabusa. They quoted him $15,000!!! I had to ask to make sure I heard him right...the agent insisted he said "fifteen thousand"

Full coverage for me when I bought the Busa was $908/yr...it dropped this year to $402/yr, still full coverage...Progressive isn't the best, but no one else beat 'em in my quest. I still have my old Harley on the policy, yet don't have the Harley anymore...they wanted to charge me $10 more for taking it off, so they said "keep it on...multiple discount"

I just paid my bill today for the year. $402 with Progressive in NH. No collision. 250/500 on everything, 1k ded on comp.
My record is clean in NH and I'm 38. Good thing they don't look back 10 years or it would be 9K.

I have a radar detector mounted to the windshield with velcro. I can hear it around town and see it when I'm tucked in. ;) Stays on for the the wheelies./color]

I locked down a policy with State Farm today; quoted a bit over $700 with $500 deductible. Went with $1K deductible for $540.
