Busa pegs

Someone mentioned sanding down the bumps on the ends of the pegs. They said that they kept the rider from sliding his feet off easily. I am finding the same thing. I either have to lift up my boots to slide out or slide my feet forward to get off the pegs. The bumps aren't large, but they do seem to interfere. Anyone see a problem with smoothing them off?

I'm sure there about $70 to replace, so I'd like to here some opinions before a take a sander to them.

If you're in a corner and you're on your feet, instead of you butt, you don't want your feet slipping off.

I've never had any problems moving my feet from pegs to ground...

Explain a little more. I'm in a corner--means I'm in a hard situation or that I'm leaning hard into a curve? I'm trying to picture a situation where my weight is on the pegs and my butt is off the seat.

I've braked so hard that my butt came off the seat and I thought I was going over the bars.

Cornering= leaning/turning agressively

If you corner a little aggressively or more you should be shifting your weight from your butt to your feet and moving your body left if your leaning left.  If you look at racers on the track, they are almost completely on their feet when leaning over in a corner.  So if you plan on cornering even a little where you need to shift some of your body weight, you don't want your feet slipping off the pegs.  Other times I stand up are for large bumps in the roads, also not a good time for your feet to slip out.

But if you just cruise and don't corner aggressively and take big bumps sitting down, it may not be a concern for you.

Hope that helps.

Yup, when I'm running thru the twisties in the mountains I find that most of my weight is on my feet for the whole ride. I find that if I keep my butt planted in the seat and just try to shift it from side to side it unsettles the bike, keeping my weight on my feet and moving forward over the back of the tank the bike handles better. Also find that hanging off towards the front of the bike into the turn is a blast... love that feeling of just being off the ground at 60mph carving out a turn... damn now I want to ride....

Thanks. I follow now. I think I'll leave them alone for a while. Probably what is bothering me is my 14 EEE feet filling the peg so snugly. I had to have the shifter extended 1.5 ".

Damn!!! That makes all kinds of sense, the pegs were made for size 10 feet.

Do your feet even fit on the pegs? I mean they must hang off on the outside something wicked.

Yeah, the're a pain. They kind of wedge in there tight. And boots that big are heavy too. It makes you want to keep them up once they are on the pegs when you should really get them down. Like when you are almost stopped at a busy intersection thinking maybe you can just go on. Then you have to stop and the wheel isn't straight and you need them down quick. Oh well, they aren't going to get any smaller

I personally think the factory rear sets are hideous. Anyone have any ideas on a nice aftermarket set for our Busas?

The ugliest part of the rear-sets are the pegs. I will be receiving my new Emgo pegs (silver) tomorrow...and will have them installed for a long ride this weekend.

Should drop the overall foot position a good inch just by not having the 4 lbs of rubber on each.

Should also improve the look of the rearsets substantially.
