Please help a little girl living in the south of England, bought a 2004 modal 6 months ago. Had some bad weather, washed it down and tucked it up in a heated garage when it got wet, and yet the alley has excessively corroded. polished it off with a lot of elbow grease and sent it off to be prettied up for px for this years modal. The garage left it outside for a while and within a couple of days b4 they got to work on it the rain created a fur coat on the alley casings. Is this a plating problem therefore warranty covered or is there a way of protecting it i am not aware of.

Sounds like u have a special problem, check with the dealer. I hawaii we have not only salt water ocean corosion but also humidity ... similar in Florida.

I am not clear on what your mean your alley is ...

Chain, sprockets, bolt heads, and nuts should corrode first.  If those are all fine, something wrong with your engine case.

Oh, don't tell the dealer you polished your case at the corroded spots, they'll blame you for it.

Welcome to the board. Not sure what to tell you about that except take it back to the dealer. Haven't heard of that happening before.

to get all the bits replaced by Them and not out of my pocket.

Hi ZR1,

I also have a K4 purchased in August and live in the South East, I have clocked up 18,000 miles. I do a lot of miles in all weathers and have found the Suzuki very bad for corrosion compared to other bikes I have owned, Triumph, BMW. I don't think you are experiencing anything out of the ordinary. I use Scottoil FS365 which does help but you will never stop it completely.

You get a lot of bike for your money but in my opinion it's not built to withstand our UK weather.

I believe you are having a manufacturing defect, just take it back to the stealership and they should replace everything with no out-of-pocket expense to you.

I must be misunderstanding how your rain, snow, sleet and summer are different from mine in the U.S. I might be a little different, but it cannot be that different that it would cause corresion on a brand new vehicle.

One more question, when I look up the k4 I keep on getting pictures of the GSX-1000, is this correct?

Hi All

cruncherbusa.

well it seems that it is the salt the local council put on the road to stop the road from freezing up that is causing the problem.

but it still should not go that bad in such a short time, yes suzuki is going to replace all the parts that have corrosion on. you just have to stand your ground with the local Dealer to get things done.[being female and nagging helps!]
by the way GSXR1300 K4 =1994......

Hi, By K4 I mean a 2004 model Busa.

I wish I knew what the hell our local councils spread all over the road in the winter but it is very corrosive stuff.

My bikes have a hard life when it comes to standing up to the elements, I do 750 mile per week and they only get a wash at the weekend so the salt has plenty of time to do it's worse. But I will say the Suzuki is not standing up to this usage as well as bikes I have had in the past. 2 x Triumphs and a BMW. Yes they all corroded to some extent but not as bad and so quickly.

This isn't a problem for me as it's the mileage that kills my bikes before the corrosion gets a chance

Don't get me wrong I love my Busa and nothing can touch it in many respects but quality of materials and finish is not one of them.

Well I guess I showed my skill at searching the web!

No corrosion problems here, I would think somebody would make a product that would help keep the salt off....wax or some sort of sealer
