Busa Questions

I am about to call it quits on the track daying and plan to pick up a Busa for the street. Will be doing a lot of two up riding with the girl.

I have a few questions.

Has there been any changes from 2008 to 2011?

Not worried about cosmetic changes looking for more engine, tyranny and suspension. fuel system and ECU.

Also are there any known issues with the 2008 thru 2011 models? I know on the gixxers our CCT's wear out and we replace them with manual APE units.

Anything else I should know?

Thanks and sorry for the newb questions.

Fyi I been riding and track daying for over 25+ years so I am a capable rider.

except for colors/graphics, 2008-2011 is the same bike. Recall for 08 (clutch bolts backing out), look at POST #54 ONWARDS HERE:

Rectifier recall for 08-up (not sure if 2011 is affected): https://www.hayabusa.org/forum/gen-...46012-rectifier-recall-notice-came-today.html

Good reading here: http://www.hyp4r.com/hayabusa/latest_hayabusa.htm

BTW, welcome.

No changes, 3 issues from memory, ignition switch wire routing ( recall ), clutch bolts ( recall ), rectifier ( recall ).

My '08 has 21 hard K miles on it and has never let me down. The ignition wiring was checked and found to be correct, the clutch bolts were inspected and found to be correct, and the rectifier never failed me, but was replaced.

Make sure all have been checked and corrected before taking delivery

Most excellent two up bike  Even better one up

Tracking only, ha? And for 25 years. Wow! Try not to drag a knee on the street, cause no one is gonna throw a flag when there is a problem ahead.

Oh, you don't have to tuck in until you hit 150.

Otherwise, good luck with the bike. You gonna love it. :beerchug:

I ride on the street but no messing around on public roads, not worth the risk. The track bike is to uncomfortable to ride on the street or maybe I am just getting old. The bike is licensed and insured so I could ride it on the street.

My buddies all ride street bike and go on long rides, I would be nice to go along.

I have always liked the Busa and got to ride one and really liked it. After 45 minutes on the bike and I was still smiling and feeling good.

My local dealer has a 2011 he is willing to deal on, what is a good price for a new 2011? He offered a $1000 off sticker but not sure if that is good in this economy?

Thanks for all the help guys.

Dont waste your money on a new bike, save that for performance stuffs.

Get a good condition low mileage 08-11.I strongly believe you will modify the busa in time to come thanks to your track days.

FYI Yoshimura modified a busa totally for the track.

There was an older guy on a GEN II at one of my last track day. The bike did surprisingly well.

He had minimal mods, fully system, rear sets, clip ons, master cylinder, SS lines, brake pads and track day rubber. It was a rocket ship down the straight and the guy was dragging knee. The best part is he rode it there and rode it home.

I was a very hot a humid day and the Busa did not overheat or have any temp issues.

He has some very cool detachable luggage he used to haul all his gear in.

Welcome!!! And where do you live ? Im in the snow belt of pa

That's the Busa brother, ride it to the track or strip, go buy groceries, take a 1K mile a day ride, carve corners, it does it all and does it all well.

Oh, did I mention it's sexy

Yes it seem like the perfect all around bike, plus my best fried is a Suzuki service manager so got to stay loyal to Suzuki.

I am in Minnesota.

Why sell your track gixxer? A bunch of us have Busa's AND track Gixxer's too!!

I am keeping the track bike in case I want to do a track day here and there, plus I have so much money in to it not really worth selling.

Only issue is where to keep it as I am out of garage space, going to ask my sister and Mom and see I can can tuck it in a corner of their garages.
