I have a friend with a 2008 Busa and I also have one. He keeps talking about tires that are specifically rated for the Busa. Can someone please educate me on these? Do they actually exist? I'm getting ready to buy a new set of tires and I'm confused as h*!!.???

Real-world experience indicates a "Busa-specific" tire is not mandatory whatsoever.

So buy tires that have the properties you want.....

Uber-grip/short-life: Bridgestones BT-series, Dunlop Qualifiers, Michelin Pilot Powers, etc

Outstanding performance with excellent treadlife: Avon Storms, Michelin PR2's, Pirelli Diablo Strada, etc.

There are a ton of excellent choices out there for tires...

there aint no such thing. every tire is made the same just have different ratings for higher speeds or the lower speeds or whatever you are wanting. they dont have a certain tire just for the busa. some ppl will only buy one type tire for the higher speeds. i personally like pilot power 2cts. pirellis are good tires too.

NO there are tires that are SPECIFICALLY rated for the Busa

You can use the non spec tires without any problem, but there are
tires with a different code which denotes that they are designed for
the Busa :beerchug:

no there aint. the only difference in a liter bike and a busa is a few miles per hour other than that all bikes can take corners and stuff at same speeds. show me these tires you speak of and i will apologize but im 99.9% sure there aint no such thing.

Dude, you are all fookered up on this one. Rich is correct. Go to your local dealer and look at the new busa's. They come with a BTO15 M series I believe. This is a busa specific tire Bridgestone makes for Suzuki in which Suzuki requires certain specs to enhance the busa's performance.

Now go to the dealer's parts counter and tell them you want to buy a BTO15. Have them open their Tucker Rocky catalog and you'll see a number of different BTO15 series to choose from. I believe Honda's specific tire for their CBR1000 is a G series made specificly for Honda. Then Kawi has a different series yet.

So YES there are specific tires designed by OEM specs for a number of different bikes.

The Gen 1 Busa's used the BT 56 "J" spec tire and the Gen 2 uses
the BT 015 "M" spec. The tire manufacturers test and develope a
tire, then many of the bike makers have them change it to meet
their demands for the particular bike that they build.

going to have pretty limited view of what is happening or is available if the busa was your only bike to date, sort of limits your exposure...

Pretty sure Rich was around when the wooden wheel was banned for racing I think...

If you call the tyre manufacturers most will have a tyre to use on the Busa.
Tell them exactly what type of running you do IE Lot twisties or straights
to get the best tyre for the situation. Suzuki will have taken the best all round tyre
that will do average on the most diffrent situations that can be appreciated .
To me it is only when you know what type of running you do 80 - 90 % of the time you can change tyres to suit .

Bike racers use diffrent compound tyres for diffrent race tracks so we do with our situation.

I also noticed when I went to the Bridgestone site that the same Bt015 came in several different tire codes (exact same size) for different motorcycle models. Not sure what the differences are but I'm sure they are slight.???

im going up to the suzuki shop tomorrow to ask them i got some friends who work there im going to find out if this new knowledge is correct. although buying a tire specifically designed for a busa is stupid....those tires aint made any different than say a avon or a michelin or something. im going ot ask tomorrow when i go up there. i will apologize then. im a man of my word. i have no prob admitting defeat.

keep in mind many "parts" guys are not all that wise when it comes to the bikes they are pulling parts for..

Best to talk to the reps/engineers and tire makers for this type of information.. I have found that the "Suzuki" parts guys here know very little about the bike itself sad to say..
