busa shutting down at 8500 rpm\'s

First time posting long time reader.I am a owner of a 00 blue/silver with 4000 miles. yesterday while riding cracked the throttle open in second gear and got up to about 8500 and the bike just shut down. got it going again ran strong till about same rpm. then starting jerking like it was running out of fuel. fuel guage showed 1/4 tank.have been having stuttering problem at 2000 to 3500.Tried red line seem to help the stuttering and throttle response .But this is something new.bike is stock except for yosh race slip ons.Does any one have a clue what may be the culprit????

Oh **** are you in for a treat....I`ve been down that road. I just got mine fixed and it was the dam crank sensor ....to much air gap...mail me at cbxchris@northstate.net and I`ll fill you in...........
