I was curious which one will come out on top in a straight line, My 02 busa BONE stock vs a buddies zx10r with full exhaust and power commander. the race would be from 40mph roll on and a 70mph roll on. assuming all shift points are met efficiently.

Nice first post

Yep, welcome to the .Org

Although I'm far from the one to answer the question, one thing that seems to be missing is whether you're racing to top speed, or to a certain distance. On a track, of course.

Welcome..

The newer liter bikes (GSXR1K, ZX-10, R1) would walk a stock Busa. Given the HP numbers they're putting out and power to weight ratio.

You think on an all-out, top-speed war? Maybe a 1/2 mile run?

man, I know with my bike stock, racing a 2005 zx10r with full Arata, K&N Filter, PC3 with tune. And he was 60lbs lighter. He just ran away from my Busa. Even from a dig I got a good jump and he pulled around me when Im in 3rd every time.

How with 16/42 sprockets we are even and I even beat him once, and another I started pulling on him from behind.

Bone stock Busa vs. modded ZX-10...the ZX-10 at 40-70mph should win every time. 40-70 mph is only going to be about a 2 second race though! Try 40 up to 140+...in a closed area course.

Get yourself a full Hindle, PCIII, air box mod and custom map and you should nose him before walking away at triple digit speeds.

I think in a top end run, the Stock Busa may narrow the gap, but the newer liter bikes would be a heavy favorite in any other race..

Ok.. here's what happened to me.
The only performance mod I made to my 2005 Busa is a TRE.  My friend has a 05 GSXR1K modded with full pipe, BMC race filter, PCIII, modified sprockets,..

We did a few 2nd gear and 3rd gear roll ons  60-70mph to approx 150-160. The 1K got me by 4 or 5 bike lengths every time.

Think about it..
Stock Busa   approx 530lbs wet
approx 155 bhp  94 torque  out of the box.

Newer Gixxer.. about 100 lbs lighter. about the same HP output.. with 78 torque.

I'll give the new GSXR1K or any newer liter bike the advantage here.

And the NEW '07 Gixx1000 would be a MONSTER!

185bhp baby!

Yeah...the soldier bikes are going nuts...but, that doesn't mean our veteran bikes are fallin back either...
As far as I know, if you do airbox mod, race filter, full pipe and pc3 ?(on top of that I chpped off half my canister too)
They are not going to mess with you...
Even if they try(you will get one of those time to time...) you still can pull up on em...
if you don't put too much weigh on the busa, you will have chance to walk on them...

My case is I did all that and I'm only 190lbs

But he said "the race would be from 40mph roll on and a 70mph roll on," but he didn't say when it ends. 1/4 mile, 1/2 mile, first to 100 ... 180?

He did not say if it was the 04-05 10R or the 06 either .

Does not matter . If the 04-05 10R was one of the good one's that came off assembly with cam timing what it should be it's over for the stock 02 Busa .

2006 GSXR1000 stock would be alot worse and it looks like new king , stock vs stock for 2007 is yet another Suzuki 1000

The horror of it all

Great post ... great discussion. Just read the article in Sport Rider re the new 07 1k. Awesome bike. Be interesting to see what happens as the GP rolls back to 800 class ... Is this the pinnacle year for the 1ks? Frankly, I couldn't ride either the Busa or any 1K to its limits ... don't really want to but I LOVE my busa ... kinda strange that. I've owned a few but ... this one is different.

for 40$ put on a 43 tooth rear sprocket and spank the shid out of that zx !
super.gif

he is definatly triin to set up a race thats in his favor . 40 to 100 even 70 to 100 plus yoo should walk away from him after 100mph at stock gearing depending on how much of a leap he gets

go with the 43 tooth rear and at 40 wack it open and hold it there shift of the limiter to second and third !
SHOCKED.gif
he will be ib the dust by the time you hit the top of third !
beerchug.gif
then put the 40 tooth back on and let the bragging begin!

Im with tha general opinion here-the stock Busa cant handle a bike 100lbs. lighter with MORE hp out the box-unless he misses a shift or something, those short races (70-100mph) will not work in a Busa's favor.
if you want to get around that Zed-X, race him from 100-160mph...you might have a chance, if your cajones are big enuf n your brain is small enuf
all_coholic.gif

to beat that bike a busa needs new sprokets, pipe/PCIII, and airbox mod-shud be enuf to get around him.

good luck with your race, PLEASE be safe, and consider the lives of all involved-dont take crazy risks w/other folks' lives.

Been there, done that... only with a '06 gixxer 1K with pipe, PC etc. He walked me to about 100, then we stayed about even to about 130... after that I rolled right on past him up to about 170 (180+ indicated). This was with stock gearing.

The new liter bikes will spank a stock Busa in a roll on below 100, especially if they have mods!
