I know it's winter and all but the past few weeks I have noticed some "too good to be true" offers on Busas on Ebay. For example a 2002 black anniversary edition with 800 miles for a Buy it now price of $3800!! Also, right now there are 2 almost new Busas with less than a 1000 miles going for only $4000 and a beautiful velocity racing turbo Busa for around $4000. I thought these bikes would sell for alot more than that especially being almost brand new!!!!

watch out for the scams...scam

These are people trying to defraud you - but you have to wonder who in their right mind would send someone they don't know, who probably lives out of the country, $3,000 for a motorcycle that should cost at least twice as much. People need to use their heads!

Same type of scam crosses all types of merchandise. Beware.
Ebay forum admistrator warns That there's no legitimate vehicle sales from other Countries. Watch out for bogus Escrow companies and Western union payment. The Approved buyers email link is get direct contact to begin the scam. BTW they use stolen Seller's profiles. That's why a seller history dealing with ceramics and house plants. Now is selling three late model sportbikes

yeah i pm'd one guy that had a pic of the bike from the back but i couldnt make out the liscense plate frame.. it was a bike shop i knew that.. when i asked him what it said he bailed. if i would by another one off of ebay i would be sure to make them know i would be picking up the bike myself and would bring the money with me. then see what they say.. most definitely stay away from bikes overseas.

I've been seeing that mess too. I've even seen them take a picture of a bike off this site and try to sell it. Toooo good Tooo be True, stay away. Anyone who's been pricing these bikes, shouldn't even think they can get one for 3800.00, 1000 mls, and never laid down.

Hi guys... new here.  But have been lurking as I anticipate a possible Busa purchase in a month or two.

As a result, I've been actively watching eBay and Cycletrader... virtually on a daily basis.  With limited funds (don't we all), I've been attracted to these low prices too.

Most of us, by now, have heard of these scams... especially those requesting funds to be sent via Western Union to places OUTSIDE of the USA.  I think it was here that someone said to have the seller take ANOTHER picture of the bike with a note with some "word" on it, along with the bike.  This - hopefully - proving that they at least, HAVE the bike.

Well, as my purchase date gets closer, I started emailing some of these guys to see what stories/excuses they'd come up with.  Here's an example: http://adcache.cycletrader.com/5/3/0/64235830.htm

I emailed this guy with some questions about the bike... mileage, bags (type), windshield (type) etc.  From his response and his offer to ship "for free" (without my even asking ANYTHING about shipping), I knew right away it was a scam... he had "no phone", etc.

But, he threw me a curve I wasn't expecting.  ESCROW firms.  It SEEMED legit... and a good, natural way to do business...  send money to firm, firm tells seller that they have money, seller 'ships' bike, I get bike, I tell firm bike received, and they send money to seller (all for a modest fee).  PERFECT!

But, it's a SCAM!!

This site tells you all about it:  http://www.carbuyingtips.com/fraud.htm

Just wanted to make sure that you guys DON'T fall for this ESCROW SCAM twist!!!  I hadn't heard of it before today....  now I know... and now YOU know too.

Ride safe,
